We popped in for a drink on 2 occasions as we were staying locally. The hotel itself is in very good condition and well maintained, as were the amenities. Very friendly and professional bar staff and quite a good selection beers & spirits. Very nice location and will make a point of eating there at next visit.
The site is set along side the river Lochey with views to surrounding hills. There are many variations of walks with or without a dog. Killin is also a walk from the site with a co-op, cafes, would recommend Shooters hotel & restaurants, so many places for a snack or meal. The beautiful Dochart falls at its centre are lovely to visit. Killin is convenient to tour from. Sadly the toilet block was clean but dreadfully out of date and certainly no where near CAMC standards! We thought they may possibly be 1980s version! I felt sorry for the wardens having to clean & maintain them. Come on camc time for a complete refurb!! Wardens great by the way.
We had a lovely four night stay at Maragowan site. Super dog walking and lovely dog friendly cafe in In middle of the village. We were parked beside river and had beautiful views. Facilities were well kept and site very tidy. Would gladly visit again.
Arrived slightly early but staff welcoming and allowed us to wait on site. Located near a river and short walk to village which is tourist coach trap for the falls. Walk out the back of the site to the loch for peaceful views. Facilities were clean and well maintained. Some pitches had long runs for power.
I would have given this five stars if it wasn’t for the initial greeting from the male member of staff. We arrived 45 mins before check in, generally if your early you can normally check in or there is a place to park up and wait. There was plenty of parking spaces, more than enough room for us to wait, especially as we were the only ones there, but he came over and in a very condescending manner as if I was a school child asked me ‘what time it was’ which I replied and then he asked me ‘what checking in time was’ again I replied. He looked at me as if I was stupid and told us to leave and come back at 1.00pm. Unfortunately, I had already paid in full so we had no choice but to stay. Having said that the receptionist was really nice and the campsite was in a good place.
Friendly helpful staff, good sized pitches, river runs alongside the site which the dogs enjoyed, good clean and well maintained facilities.
Lovely site right by the river, site is well cared for. Silly rules about setting up resulting in all caravans lined up like soldier's. Not enough space between pitches, no privacy and over priced.
Lovely site in beautiful location beside River Lochay. Within easy walking distance of Loch Tay and village with supermarket, pub and cafes and stunning Dochart Falls. Shower block looks a bit dingy but was very clean and showers lovely and hot. Wardens were exceptionally helpful. One star taken off as there is quite a lot of road noise.
Beautiful place the place was so scenic and quiet. toilets & showers where spotless, and well stocked. Everyone was so friendly & very helpful. There was lovely walks we went on for two days walking to the coop in the next village.
Shower block needs refurb, some of the lights as you approach shower block at night weren't working last year and still not working, expensive but it's in a good position, nice scenery round about and 0.9 miles to walk to the Falls in Killin
