Will never be shopping here again, so many times they have messed things up. I bought a couple of cables from them, I needed to connect my mixer to my speakers. I had only just started out as a kids entertainer so I didn't know which ones I needed. They somehow managed to give me the wrong ones and apparently I couldn't return it cause i already opened it! Most recently though I ordered some snow fluid online and sent my partner to pick it up for me, for some strange reason they gave me smoke fluid instead. Luckily I remembered that the snow fluid bottle was supposed to be blue as opposed to pink or I would've gone to my job with the wrong fluid which as you can imagine would be hell for me! I had to drive all the way down to the store and was told that they had run out of the 5l snow fluid so the system probably replaced it with smoke fluid instead which is absolutely ridiculous as they are VERY different. At first it was suggested that they would give me three 1l bottles for the same price as that was all they had left. But evidentally I wasn't too pleased with the idea of getting less than what I paid for because of the 1l bottles being extortionate. Thankfully the gentleman at the desk resolved it for me and gave me a 1l bottle for my work tomorrow and is sending me a 5l. But I barely got a sincere apology for what was very inconvenient. As a kids entertainer I frequently need things like this and if they can't get it right I won't be using them again.

Great handy store, very good selection and helpful staff. We have visited the store many times and always find new or useful technology. Great service and thoughtful of their customers, I called about an item and then saw it in store which I thought was very sweet when I see it.

Once upon a time Maplin was a very good place to go for a great selection of electronic components and enclosures for your projects. The staff they employed back then were all experienced electronics technicians or similar background - that is to say, if you had a technical question regarding the development or repair of an electronic circuit or device, they knew what they were talking about. Unfortunately those guys with the knowledge have since retired or moved on and Maplin now seems to have the policy of employing kids who wouldn't know a schematic diagram from their clearasil instructions. Save yourself the hassle and go directly to RS components at Hedge end, they have much more of an understanding of what they sell and can even offer an alternative theory about what your trying to develop.

Having travelled down from Glasgow and forgot a cable for my breathing machine we went to this branch of maplin and there were staff in early and we got there attention and they came to the door , we asked could we purchase the cable early as we were booked on the ferry to Spain We were told no tills not open we asked Could we just leave the money for it we we’re not bothered about a receipt again no Just think that 5 mins of common sense and a little kindness could have went a long way to helping a customer with a medical emergency, but hey just means I won’t be shopping with maplin again and I do tend to spend a lot over the year with them as I have a entertainment business
