Well......where do I start? Yes, it is in a lovely location, but if the staff do not care it reflects badly. My sister and I were in for a meal and soft drinks. The bar could provide neither soda nor lemonade. I was told that the owner was in, and the bar girl was embarrassed, but no action was taken. There was no reduction in the charge. There was no apology for items on the menu that were unavailable. It had been meant as a treat for my sister, who is in a caring role 7 days a week. It was a disaster.

If I could it would be 4.5 stars. Nice grounds, beautiful wood interiors throughout, plastered wainscoting in the upper halls, comfortable lounge and bar. Room was huge for Europe. Nice to have some space. Breakfast was overshadowed by the great cooking at our previous hotel. Sticky toffee pudding however was a work of art. No lift and many stairs.

The room was out dated not antique, but clean. Food was good and staff friendly. The bed wa uncomfortable mattress was old could do with new ones. Too many ornaments in the room not enough plugs.

Wow an amazing place in a beautiful setting. Just love this place and just a 5 min walk to the town. Would highly recommend.
