If you want to waste thousands of pounds, you choose the right university. There are loads of mistakes and problems when it comes to paper work. Double check and triple check EVERYTHING - your transcript most importantly. It's so hard to imagine that a UK based university that just celebrated 200 years of educating people can make such mistakes. They say something, and act the other way. Your dissertation supervisor might disappear on writing their own article while you don't know what to do with your dissertation and desperately waiting for them to answer your emails or set a meeting. I had only one meeting for the whole process of dissertation. Studying here is among one of my biggest mistakes in life. Don't waste your precious time and hard earned money here. There are better options out there.
I've literally just left this university and I really tried to like this university, honestly I did. I moved three flats because I wanted a better experience. The first flat I was in was extremely unclean with the bins been overstocked with food and rubbish and the sink filled up with plates which were there for up to a month. It was vile to be honest. One of the flatmates parents came in to wash the plates for the flatmate, which was shocking. I was given dirty looks by the flatmate and the parent. The flatmates were angry at me for leaving, even though I wasn't close with them. The amount of hostility I was targeted with was unwarranted and disgusting. I think racism was at play, I really do. Bear in mind I did not let them know how i was feeling with the uncleanness. I was extremely kind to them. The second flat the people were crazy, I was told off for how I cooked chicken. The fact I didn't wash my hands before cooking chicken even though I wasn't cooking for them and also how I touched the surfaces and didn't clean the knives. I was told that the way I coughed was killing a certain flatmate. I was told off for having my bowls and dishes out. I was treated like a slave and an outsider. I tried to report it but they closed the case. The uni and how they handled it was absolutely shocking. The third flat was the best one I was in but things became complicated rather quickly.nI've dropped out of uni now due to mental health. The uni is a joke. The only thing good was the English course I was on but even then, there was a girl who was in the same workshop as me and she knew the struggles I went through in the second flat I was in and I asked the tutor if I could be moved they said no regardless of how I felt. The uni is a joke. Manchester as a city is nice but mmu is not.
The University is among the UK's leading Universities for study and research. It has a large campus with outstanding facilities providing students with high-quality courses and a great environment to improve their skills and capabilities. Additionally, there is great academic and personal support from lecturers and tutors. Recently, The Manchester Metropolitan University has been awarded a Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education. In 2022, the University's world-class new Institute of Sport which is currently under construction will also be ready. Manchester Metropolitan University is among the best European Universities.
Awful university, filled with the worst kind of people. Furthermore, the staff did not correctly state my last day of engagement ignoring their own forms when I withdrew, costing me £500. Do yourself a favour and avoid.
What ever you do, do not study Interior Design at MMU/Manchester School of Arts! Honestly I regret going there so much! Me and 70% of my previous student peers are jobless or working in a job that is not our degree the rest got lucky and got training jobs. Till date we all talk about how we regret going to MMU. They teach you software Vectorworks which no one in the industry knows, very bad software can’t even edit the materials or even put realistic materials. Very weak software! Also they tell you to buy Mac book which is crazy! If you are an Interior designer or Architect you know that Mac books can’t handle Interior and Architectural softwares. I and my peers learnt this the hard way. They don't teach AutoCad and Sketchup even though we all asked for them to teach us they laughed in our face and said why and we explained that when we are searching the Job market they are all asking for those softwares, Revit and no one uses Vectorworks. MMU steal your money and teach you nothing. Also you teach yourself everything and you don’t know if you are going in the right track or not, you are always lost. Trust me go Salford I know so many amazing Interior designers and Architects! Also 99% of lectures are useless most the time they will put a video up and tell you to watch it, they don’t teach anything they just expect you to know everything which is very useless because what is the point of going to University to learn? They always say you will learn from industry, again whats the point of going to University.
