Lovely place. Book gluten free 24 hours in advance. Right off the train station. So adorable, every single thing. Book here. Betty’s is great but there is always a line. This place has a more upbeat atmosphere. Happy children dressed up in Christmas best enjoying a holiday tea. They do have vegan and gluten free cupcakes to take out. Very creative baking staff on site. Decor is festive and well designed. The hampers looked amazing.
"A MUST" - enter a portal into an experience nothing short of a barage to your senses. Never before have I experienced such a perfectly orchestrated eatery. You'll walk into what appears to be a scene directly out of a fairy tale. Colorful flowers, balloons, light jazz comfortably fill the room with an aura of calm. The food cheerfully delivered to our table had me photograph before reluctantly disturbing its careful presentation. Freshness of quality ingredients, prepared with love was obvious. I am certain, Jessica, together with her efficient friendly staff are making Mama Doreen VERY proud! I cannot wait to return next time I visit Harrogate and the UK. Betty's... move over!
This was our first visit to Mama Doreen’s Emporium and we were not disappointed. Normally when visiting Harrogate we would choose to have afternoon tea at Betty’s. Mama Doreen’s is very different , a bit more modern and colourful but in terms of the food offer and standards of service it compares favourably with the Harrogate legend. The savoury options were fab and there was so much more than the usual sandwich options. Then the cakes and desserts were too much for us and having waded through half the selection we chose to box up the remaining cakes for eating at home. Strongly recommended for a visit
Amazing afternoon tea... they were fully booked up and didn't have any tables so they offered us the bar, outside or a takeaway afternoon tea. We took the takeaway option and had the afternoon tea in the park. The staff were brilliant and prepared the afternoon tea for pick up. Will definitely come again the next time I am in Harrogate.
Staff had great attention to detail and made us feel very comfortable. The vegan savoury platter was delicious. Thought has clearly been put into the components, many of them vegan alternatives to classic sandwich combinations. We also had a vegan cupcake, which was light and well-balanced. On the whole, a lot of care put into the service and the food, would definitely want to come back and try the vegan afternoon tea. Savoury platter pictured is a portion for one person.
Very friendly service and atmosphere, we had afternoon tea and there was more rhan enough for both of us. The food was very nice and the cakes are to die for. I came out in a food coma!! Highly recommended it.
All staff were nice and friendly, and quite a pleasant cosy atmosphere which was nice. Service was quite quick, and the tea’s were nice with some delicate flavours. We decided to have afternoon tea, and it was presented nicely, and couldn’t fault it much. Just one or two bits of it wasn’t to our taste, but that’s more us than product quality. We’d go again, and certainly get a good range of deserts with it! All well priced too
Originally booked Bettys Tea Room but the reviews put me off a little. Came across Mama Doreen's on the internet and booked there instead for afternoon tea for two. To be honest, this is probably the best afternoon tea I've had. The little extras that you wouldn't usually get like the quiche and savoury scone with caramelised onions were so tasty. The sandwiches were different and so lovely. The cakes...wow! We couldn't finish it all and had to take some home. The only thing I would say is that tea and coffee should be refilled for free at least once given the time you are there and the amount of food. Staff were great!
Very helpful and attentive staff, we had afternoon tea and compared to others and it's price point in the area. Was spot on. Only complaint would be the lack of tea choices.
Gorgeous place I will revisit time and time again for every family birthday and event. Sometimes just for a little treat. Took my auntie for her birthday and she loved it and is planning to go back already. 10/10 customer service, just superb and the food is always gorgeous. We are moving back to Estonia in the New Year and I wish I could take Mama Doreen’s with me
