What a lovely place...Food was amazing !! Me and my fiancee got taken here for our birthday's by a friend. The service was top notch from the young lady who served us... The food was genuinely fantastic quality throughout... There was 7 off us dining and all chose different items and although very busy the food came out quite quickly. Booking is essential as they only have a small dining area. We traveled from the other side of Birmingham probably 25 miles however we will definitely be going here again soon.. I had the mega mixed grill and it was touch and go whether I'd finish it, from the first to the last bite it was the business My fiancee had the lamb shank and she swears it's the best she's eaten anywhere. So book in advance and treat yourself to a quality night out... Even if it's a way to travel, on my experience its will worth the extra money and effort. I'll have to get the young ladies name next time and add it as she did an excellent job looking after us.. Thank you
We went to The Malt Shovel last Saturday lunchtime for a family friend’s birthday. We were there at lunchtime on opening so got great service with drinks and taking our food order. The menu had a massive selection which were all reasonably priced and what struck us was the portion sizes! They were HUGE! Very happy Diners. We really enjoyed ourselves and will be returning soon! Many thanks to the Staff for making it a good experience.
Just got back from here and had we both had lovely meals. Couldn't fault it. The staff were really friendly. Really big portions. Well worth the money. We will definitely return with friends. A lovely cosy pub.

Absolutely unbelievably great, good, pub food! I have never been so full in my life! Both defeated by maim courses. Fantastically well priced, brilliant value for money. Home cooked, pub food, done to its best! We have found a hidden Gem, local to our new home. The menu itself is Vast! I could come twice a day for a week, not eat the d a me thing twice. Staff are warm, welcoming, friendly, helpful. We had a brilliant time. We will be back soon, but won't eat all day before we come next time! Food coma! Happy place. Thank you. See you soon guys.
First visit tonight. Lovely pub and friendly helpful staff. We all really enjoyed our meals which were delicious. The Lemon salmon was outstanding, my wife really enjoyed her ribs and rump steak and our daughter loved the chilli. Wonderful menu and very generous portions. Excellent value and we will be back.
Having been recommended to try the Malt Shovel, we took a chance and called in on Sunday without booking a table. They squeezed us in and we are so glad they did. The food was wonderfully presented and oh so tasty. The portions are massive and, for the first time in years, I could not eat it all as there was so much. I can't believe I left meat on my plate but I was absolutely full to the brim. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Drinks and food were all served in a timely manner as the place runs like a well oiled machine as far as we the customer are concerned. As for price..... SUPERB VALUE FOR MONEY. Well done to all at the Malt shovel Hartshill. We will be back and are so happy to recommend others to try your pub and food. Thanks for a wonderful Sunday lunch experience.

Amazing food, proper good sized portions with excellent attention to detail to everything on the plate. Friendly service and good atmosphere. I went with someone that had an intolerance to some food, the staff were very helpful and advised and modified a meal for her. Would definitely go back. Kid-friendliness: Great for kids food Parking: Limited parking at busy times. Dietary restrictions: Very accomodating
Food was amazing. Only downsides were the tiny carpark and people taking up 2 spaces but that is not the pubs fault and the wait time for food. However the food was phenomenal and both me and my husband couldn't finish so had the food boxed to go. It was good quality too large breasts of chicken and large portions overall. Would definitely go again! X
