Been past so many times but never time to pop in, until this time. Really friendly staff, clean and tidy decor and masses of options. Had double pie and mash with gravy, some with us had vegetarian pies which were so good!. One of us wanted gravy but vegetarian and the lady overheard us and brought some over - brilliant. Will be back to try more!
Popped into Macks a couple of nights ago with colleagues starving after just having had dinner whilst staying at a local hotel !! We really enjoyed the whole experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the restaurant really clean and most of all the food first class with decent portions and most of all affordable. Proper food as it should be well done !!
I can't believe I haven't tried this place before... it is a bit off the track in terms of where I would normally walk, but only by about 60 seconds!!!! The pie was delicious, my little one has been off her food and I went in because who doesn't want comforting food when they're feeling a bit grim, she ate nearly all of it, which even on a good day would have been a feat. Truly delicious and my new favourite place to go when I want that warm, full, cozy comforting feeling of a full belly : Also very reasonably priced! And service with both a smile and a friendly face! What's not to love. <3
Popped in today as I love Pie and Mash . It's just off the High Street about 20 yards up a side road . The lady serving was happy , polite and friendly . The restaurant was clean and tidy with lots of clean matching cutlery . I ordered the normal mince pie with mash and the portions were ample with 2 scoops of mash and all covered in liquor . All good so far , then the wheels start to come off . The mash was nice and fluffy , the pastry was very good and I had the right amount of liquor . Problem is with the taste , the pie was so bland and tasteless , such a shame , I was so disappointed . It's definitely missing something maybe some spice in the pie mixture might help . I'm gutted really , I thought I'd found a hidden gem . I hope the owner reads this and tries to improve the taste .
Bloody smashing!! Just eaten a lovely pie n mash & my first experience of liquor, had the gravy too, all delivered very kindly by a lovely man to The Spirella Building, Letchworth. The ladies at the reception want to thank you very much for your kind treat, it was delicious & now I know what it’s like I’ll order it via ‘Just Eat’. THANKS AGAIN! X
Ignore the review from Susan Flynn, Mack's is an amazing place for pie and mash, and the owners are lovely to deal with. They've only ever been friendly and helpful even letting me buy a couple of frozen pies off them before they've even opened for the day. Shame people have to try and ruin a good business by leaving fake reviews. Extremely glad they've reopened!!
Drove an hour to get here. Little signs on blanked out windows said it had closed down. Shame it never announced that on the website. We lost count of all the people turning up and trying the door in the half hour we sat there, working out where might serve decent, unpretentious vegetarian food. So looking forward to it. Where do we go now?!?
Me and wife had the most delicious meal here this afternoon!! The food is great and service is so friendly. If you like good East End tucker and a warm welcome then it's a must to visit in the Old Town
Tried Stevenage Old Town shop a while ago and was disappointed to see that it had closed. Now open in Stevenage indoor market, probably in a catchment which will appreciate this fayre. I do value the owners determination in not giving up. Good quality pies with plenty of filling, nice mash and thick liquor rich in parsley flavour. Chilli vinegar was just right. Manze's in TBR is my favourite but I'm glad this is a short journey from home. A positive post also left on the PML Appreciation Society
Moved away from East London, knowing that we would no longer be near our favourite Robin's Pie and Mash shop in Romford. Was hoping to find a Pie and Mash shop near us now we are in Knebworth, and came across Mack's, but unfortunately we could only try it once as they were soon to close the next week : Very unfortunate but hope you make a come back!!!!
