An amazing family run aquarium. We visited with our two toddlers and they loved it. Yes its small but do not let that put you off. The son who was working was very knowledgeable and friendly, he was perfect with the kids. Feeding the fish was a lot of fun and holding the starfish the kids favourite. Thank you to all of the team that run the aquarium and make it all possible.
This is a very small but perfectly formed marine aquarium the feeding of the Mullets was great fun and we got to hold starfish which was great very friendly knowledgeable staff! The bulk fish/crabs etc are caught locally and rotated back into the sea which is great but we did feel that £8 was bit over priced as only in there bout 20mins then an extra £3 per pot for fish food!
Are you kidding me? Who knew places like this still existed? You can have your corporate owned pristine aquariums where you can view lots of animals behind glass in a very clinically observational manner....boring! Or you can come here, talk to Max, learn some stuff, and actually touch some stuff. Feeding the Mullet is a highlight for young and old....guaranteed, and really, it's a once in a lifetime sort of experience! Certainly I've not heard of Mullet feeding anywhere else. This place is AMAZING. Compact and Rustic for sure, but in terms of an experience....well the place is invaluable. Good stuff Max!
Really nice little aquarium, we got to feed some fish and hold a starfish and the staff were really friendly and informative. It was quite small but had a nice little collection
This was a lovely experience for the kids, they were able to feed the fish by hand which was awesome and they’re still talking about it a week later. They held a starfish and the guys who ran it were great. But… It was VERY expensive for the size and we left feeling very deflated after spending £34 for 2 adults and 3 children the cost of a full day at the zoo we were in and out within 15 mins which really put a downer on the experience. Wouldn’t go again and would recommend one adult take the children in rather than pay for two adults.
Kids loved it. Hold a starfish, feed the fish. All native species on display. Didn't take long to look round. Nice to support local small businesses. We've been twice now.
Marine Aquarium We have visited the Marine Aquarium twice in the space of 6 months with two different sets of friends with children. It’s suitable for younger and older children and adults too that want to learn more about the local sea life in the area and some really interesting history of Lyme Regis. The owner was so helpful, enthusiastic with the children and shared some really lovely stories and information. My son had lots of questions and he was so happy to take time to talk to him. He gave us lots of his time, the children loved holding the starfish and he gave them lots of interesting info on them. Each time we come back to visit Lyme we walk up to the area where the aquarium is and we’ll visit again with friends and family we haven’t bought here yet. If you want a personal touch on a lovely family trip then here’s the place to go. We got to also watch the local fisherman come in with their catch whom we’re equally friendly and informative to the children. Hidden gem for sure. Well worth the money and pleased it’s going to a lovely local business.
Our second visit here. The children absolutely loved it. The grey mullet were eating out of our hands which was amazing to be so close. We held a star fish and let it crawl along our hands, then watched it turn itself back over in its tank. It’s only a small aquarium but if you’re interested in the natural world it’s well worth a visit!
We love this aquarium and have been coming every year for the past 7 years! Its such a unique experience and a must visit place if you’re in Lyme Regis!!
Amazing little aquarium. Staff super nice and knowledgeable and full of information. Worth every penny to visit and support this small local place. Feeding the mullet and holding the starfish was great fun. Definitely visit
