Story

Lower Barn Cafe is an atmospheric cottage cafe situated in rural Essex and is renowned for its locally sourced menu, wholesome and delicious meals and friendly staff.

On a daily basis we serve breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea but are also available for private hire and run a range of events.

We use only the best locally sourced food when we freshly prepare your meal, and we are certain you’ll agree, you can taste the difference.

We have recently been commended in the Essex Fine Food and Drink Awards for the second year running.

As well as making each meal to order, we regularly rotate our selection of mouth-watering and award-winning sausages, and our homemade cakes, chutneys, jams and hollandaise sauce is lovingly prepared from scratch by our chefs.

Relax in front of our cosy wood-burning stove, catch-up with friends on our comfy sofas or enjoy the sunshine and fresh air in our cafe garden, complete with patio furniture and artificial lawn.

We are at the heart of Lower Barn Farm, so you’ll be able to work up an appetite looking at the lovely showrooms, hosting an enormous range of kitchen appliances, stoves, fireplaces, cookers, barbecues, outdoor fires, garden furniture and more.

So whether you’re looking to snuggle up in front of the fire with a pot of tea, enjoy a coffee and cake in the sun or fill up with a hearty meal, pop into Lower Barn Cafe, we won’t disappoint.

Serving food from 8am (Sun 9am) until 3pm every day.

Sunday lunch available to order from 1pm every Sunday.
