The hotel has bucket loads of rustic charm. Wonderful staff. Fantastic breakfast. Lovely rooms which may in parts need a little TLC but are clean and tidy. Had a great experience. In a place of outstanding natural beauty and stunning little village. Definitely some where to go again.

We had a lovely experience here! We stayed in the self-catering accommodation which was booked via Airbnb which make up part of Country House and estate. The bar is a pleasant place to enjoy drinks and you can move into the living room should you want to. We were asked if we wanted the fire to be lit which was a very nice gesture! We also enjoyed their 7 course set meal with wine flight - quite the experience! I've included a few photos of the meal. Since it were we celebrating birthdays they made a special effort on the dessert!

Booked in for 2 nights, wish we hadn’t! We arrived on a cold and rainy afternoon, externally the hotel looks at best, “Tired”. Walked through the door to see 2 real fires that were not lit, the place was very cold. Bedrooms that we booked were advertised as “superior” and the photos on line suggested that this would be the case, nothing like the photos, very tired, peeling paper and cobwebs, but they were at least warm. Went to the bar for pre dinner drinks, out of stock of draught Guinness, no ice, and the whole of downstairs was very cold, the 2 fires were still not lit. Dinner was very good, no complaints there, but the dining room was again “COLD”. After dinner we sat in the one lounge where the fire had been lit (there was another lounge but the fire had not been lit, and therefore FREEZING)???? We did ask why it was so cold, but was told that the hotel was old, and nothing they could do....Great! The second night was much the same, COLD, with only one fire on, the hotel was full, so everyone tried to squeeze into the one lounge. The hotel is advertised as dog friendly, but dogs not allowed in the public areas??? One member of staff did stand out, “Zoe”. We understand that the hotel is up for sale, which may explain a lot of the above, sooner they sell the better as far as we are concerned. Was glad to get home to a WARM house. Total lack of leadership, owner should step up and get the basics sorted...NEVER AGAIN.

We visited on the weekend of 24th and stayed in the Clifton Cottage, as found on Airbnb. The house met and exceeded our standards, providing us with everything one could want for a short get away or something longer. The cottage had a very nice modern feel and was finished to a high standard. Other members of our party stayed in the cottage below which was idea and very close. As this was a joint birthday treat on the Saturday evening we opted for the 7 course taster menu with the complementing wine. The attention to detail, in every course, and the wonderfully complementing wine resulted in an very lovely experience, one which I would recommend visitors to try. The chefs were very accommodating to dietary requests such as those that didn't like fish!! The staff throughout our stay were very friendly and chatty and gave the impression they would be happy to do anything to make one's stay the best it could be. The house had a very nice county house feel to it with a well stocked little bar on site. A faultless stay and a place I would definitely be visiting again. Lots of nice little touches to make one's stay memorable.
