About

AbSoc promotes interfaith dialogue and unity regardless of gender, class, religion, creed or any other superficial factor that divides our common humanity.

Story

ABSOC is a society which aims to promote all the fundamental ideals we strive for as human beings. By taking the prophet of Islam, Muhammad (PBUH) and his family, known as the Ahlulbayt, as examples and constant reminders, we hope to live our lives to the fullest and reach our maximum potential. This means seeking to perfect ourselves in a holistic sense, with regards to all aspects of our lives. From seeking knowledge in order to boost ourselves on an intellectual level, having positive interactions with others on a moral and social level, constantly striving for the truth, remaining selfless, and through doing all these, connecting with God Spiritually.

So what’s the catch?

There is none. We are an Islamic society and NO we don’t want to convert you. (We Promise)

Muhammad (PBUH) says “There are as many paths to God as there are human breaths”. We want to promote good and welcome anyone who wishes to do the same.

It doesn’t matter if you are Christian, Jewish, Muslim or Hindu. Nor does it matter if you are black, white or green. We only care that you selflessly love those around you, and, in that, what better an example than the Prophet’s Family.

Our vision is a world inspired by the family of Prophet Muhammad PBUH: their morals, their actions and moreover their compassion for those around them, regardless of gender, class, religion, creed or any other superficial factor that divides our common humanity.

Great school, I’m in the school of Applied Science and so far all my professors have been amazing. Open to new feedback on how to improve lectures and seminars etc each lecture has uploaded slides and a video, the Lsbu library on Southwark campus is amazing. All the staff I’ve met have been so friendly, informative and patient. 10/10 overall. Best academic decision of my life.
There should be negative review, because I don't want give them one star. I am extremely disappointed with this university. I requested a refund of my fees from last 4 months and their response has been nothing short of frustrating and very unprofessional. Communication is non-existent; they ignore emails and calls, leaving me in the dark. This level of service is unacceptable, and it feels like they only care about money, not the students. I would not recommend this university to anyone. Save your time, money, and sanity by going elsewhere. Although their refund policy state 21 days refund which is all crap.
I'm an international student here. When I graduate, I will write a comprehensive review of this university. Now, I'm just sharing some photos of the university and its surroundings.
The University helped me set foundations for my career, I found job even before I got my degree. The staff are very supportive and encouraging. The campus is at the heart of city, this helped me get exposure to people living in London and catch up pace of London. Highly recommend if someone from abroad is looking to study in UK.
It's a low rent red brick polytechnic purporting to be a uni. Lecturers are largely illiterate or irrelevant in terms of the end game job. You pay hugely for a piece of paper and gain zero knowledge about your future role. They pass people who barely grasp English.. because they pay them.
Due to some personal issues, I was not able to join the university and requested for my refund in January 2024. Now marks the April 29, 2024. Still I have not received my refund yet. The refund team communication skill and process transparency is 00 %. Not satisfied with this as I try to reach multiple departments but no once help me out. This has caused me mental disturbance and so much stressed.
i was a student from here from 2005 to 2009. nice education place but some of the lecturer need to be more supportive. London South Bank University LSBU is located in the heart of London, in the up and coming area of Elephant and Castle. Founded in 1892, it is a public university with nearly 20,000 students. The University offers more than 400 undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and is made up of seven schools: applied sciences, arts and creative industries, built environment and architecture, business, health and social care, and law and social sciences.
The overall administration process of the college is very slow and careless. As being the reputed college they should be more flexible regarding management. Very poor service
Visited for a cryptocurrency event this week. Nice staff and students, all very keen and interested to learn and collaborate. I visited the business school block which appeared to be modern. LSBU is a good uni in London and does a range of full time and vocational courses. It’s located in Southwark which is perhaps not the nicest part of London but does have its own atmosphere.
Fee refund team, You can’t trust them anymore. I was told by this lady called SALMA that my money will be refunded within 21 days. I collected all that money for my sister’s admission in the university. My fault was only that I trusted SALMA’S words. It’s been more than 21 days and now they tell me that the person incharge of that very department has gone for a holiday. I care a damn who ‘s gone where. There definitely should be someone to cover the office incharge. Today was the last day for my sister’s admission. I literally had to beg and arrange money for her admission. Secondly the lady SALMA is absolutely illiterate, she doesn’t know ABC of customer service. I have been ringing them everyday as i urgently needed the money for my sister’s admission . SALMA was ever so rude with me. She needs a training session before she deals with another customer. SHE was of no help infact she was very rude and she had no manners at all. She should be polite co-operative and helpful instead of being so rude arrogant and spoke disgustingly. A little piece of advice from a customer’s point of view is that you should send MY LADY SALMA for a good training and teach her some manners. Sorry to say but ithe customer service was HORRIBLE. DISGUSTING, , No HELP and only added TENSION and complete EMBARRASSMENT for a customer who can’t have his own money just because your member of staff is on holiday. That was very unprofessional on your part, I must say.
