What an amazing experience. 3 of us came on a Football Pilgrimage to Liverpool to say goodbye to Jurgen Klopp and had been googling where to have the best bowl of scouse. The Liverpool Cathedral kept coming up and once we entered the venue, you immediately can see why - this Cathedral is glorious. The little gem within the Cathedral is what this review is about. The food was absolutely heavenly - a bowl of scouse is like being transcended to comfort healthy food only your gran could make. The crusty bread was perfect and red cabbage just rounds the dish imaculately eventhough I initially could not see how. The highlight was yet to come - Neil, the owner of Welsford Bistro, casually started chatting to us and we enjoyed his insightful, humble yet interesting nuggets of information on an array of topics regarding Liverpool, the restaurant, kids, travel and of course - Everton Football Club. What a joy as a Liverpool supporter, to encounter this business owner from the other side of Stanley Park. Never knew he owned the place because he was just so down to earth and gave us a great experience as if he was just another waitron. Neil, may you restaurant keep doing it's amazing work and being the ambassadors to not only the Cathedral but also the city and Football at large - you're a wonderful human being and a great father Alrick Sangster and Goolam Essop from Cape Town South Africa
Best tasting food in Liverpool! Try the scouse, you will not be disappointed. If you saved room for desert, I highly recommend the Orange Chocolate Cake! There are seating locations outside, inside the bistro, and inside the Cathedral. The service is very friendly. The experience of eating this wonderful food in such a beautiful building is spectacular.
Nestled within the cathedral, Welsford Bistro offers a captivating blend of history, amazing views and culinary delight, highlighted by its authentic scouse and other dishes at reasonable prices. While the setting and traditional flavors impress, the limited menu might leave some craving variety. Nevertheless, with its unique ambiance and value, Welsford Bistro is a worthwhile dining destination for locals and visitors alike.
Visiting Liverpool, I was told that I had to try a bowl of scouse. Welsford Bistro at the Liverpool Cathedral was revealed as the best by Google. Had that bowl yesterday and definitely agree. Also met and chatted with the owner of the Bistro, very pleasant and friendly, just like his attentive staff. Would definitely and without hesitation recommend the Bistro for a meal.
Inside this beautiful cathedral you can find the very best Scouse. Super yummy. Thank youFood: 4/5
Great place for a bowl of Scouse! Really amazing spot for some lunch, coffee or a cup of tea. Sat within the Cathedral with views of the High Altar, vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows. Food was fine - don't expect fine dining and you'll enjoy.Food: 4/5
The most delicious Gammon Steak I’ve ever eaten. Great service and unique location.Food: 5/5
What a fantastic little restaurant Bistro in such an architecturally stunning setting of the huge Gothic Liverpool Cathedral. Besides the location and view over the Cathedral gardens the menu is excellent. If you're new to Liverpool you've got to try the Scouse, it's fab and it's a must. Highly recommended.
Lovely food, decent size menu with lots of variety for both food and drink. Great atmosphere, a real hidden gem! We will definitely be visiting again Recommended dishesOrange Chocolate Cake
Good food and lovely location. Staff seem frustrated by their own system of visitors needing to find a table number before ordering at the till. A system that only really works if you’re dining as a couple or group - not as a lone diner - especially when it’s busy and there’s a lengthy queue to order and pay. I found the staff I encountered to be quite rude and blunt about this - probably due to them feeling frustrated and busy.
