Extremely comfortable, and hot buffet food catered for a large group was very good, hot and tasty. Manager and staff very courteous and helpful. We came to the hotel for a wake after a funeral. Outside the weather was snowing, but inside it was lovely and warm. Very clean and well furnished. Would recommend.
Absolutely superb food and service on Friday night. The restaurant was very busy but our table was in a nice quieter corner. All three courses were really good, brought out reasonably quickly and with staff regularly checking everything was fine. Would definitely go again and recommend.
We attended a wake here of a dear friend and we were very well looked after. Excellent staff friendliness and efficient service. Food is five star hot varied buffet with pizza delicious thick cut chips quiches pork pies sausage rolls good sandwiches choice. Lovely hot tea and coffee then scones jam and cream. We will return when visiting Belper to enjoy a meal from their varied menu. Thankyou Walkability: It's in the centre of Belper so it's well placed for amenities and local places of interest car park is small but field lane car park adjacent
A lovely place to unwind. Great food and lots of gluten free options, including delicious pizzas freshly made. Some good guest ales and friendly service. Popular and a good base to explore Belper. Has a great sheltered courtyard in the Summer months. Enjoy. M
Comfy traditional pub & hotel in the centre of Belper, a small town with an "alarmingly" high number of good pubs. This is one of them. Comfy decor, family atmosphere, solid pub food, plus a limited selection of cask ales. Moderate prices, friendly staff, convenient location, about a 3 minute walk eg to Belper Bus Garage. Recommended.
Staff are always friendly here. This time we were just popping in for pizza in the restaurant. Which is well worthwhile as the Pizza guy here really does a great stone baked pizza!Service: 5/5
Went just for food and drinks this afternoon. The service was shocking with food coming out separately for the table. The 'specials' pudding was sticky toffee, which is wasn't it was clearly left over Christmas cake that they had put a sauce on and called it sticky toffee. Tasted nothing like sticky toffee, not a date in sight, but plenty of sultanas. Really disappointed and won't be returning anytime soon.
We went for Breakfast. We both had the Eggs Royal. One with hollandaise on the side. One meal with hollandaise on the side was delicious, the yolks we're runny and well cooked. The bread was a bit chewy but still nice. The other plate with hollandaise wasn't as good because the yolk was mainly cooked and all the Salmon covered had started to cook. Which for the price I would expect both meals to be good. Again the sourdough was a bit on the stuff side when not covered. On the whole the food was good and we would come again. The setting was warm and the waiting staff were impeccable.
The service was shocking. A barmaid served the guy in front of me, then completely ignored me, didn't even make eye contact and walked away to talk to her mate about nonsense. Then the guy who appeared to be in charge arrived and completely ignored me, he didn't even have the courtesy to speak to me or the other people at the bar until I shouted at him to ask if this bar was self service or whether the staff actually knew their priority was. The prices are enflated and the staff don't care I wonder if Johney knows or cares about what happens when the customers stop coming.
This could be a really nice place to stay but lacks attention to detail. In the bathroom the sink taps and plug had lost most of its chrome and both taps were missing the hot and cold water identifier. The grouting below and around the radiator was grey and looked dirty. The shower seal at the bottom of the door was very black and brown with dirt. The bottom of the shower tray on the outside was missing it's silicon seal. The towels were very thin and threadbare in places. The bedlinen was clean but the pillows were very thin and looked like they needed replacing. We found it very difficult to access the hotel Wi-fi. We were grateful we were only staying one night.
