Lima Floral

About

LIMA Floral is the second London restaurant of Virgilio Martinez (no. 5 chef in the world - "World's 50 Best") and is a modern, casual take of Peruvian gastronomy in the heart of Covent Garden

Story

LIMA Floral is an evolution on what we have offered diners at LIMA Fitzrovia, with the aim of showcasing Peru as a country full of diversity: ecologically, culturally and historically, sharing an authentic and native culinary offering.

LIMA Floral will be split into two spaces:

The main restaurant (60 covers) in which will serve an innovative menu overseen by Virgilio Martinez and Head Chef Robert Ortiz featuring some of Virgilio’s latest creations as well as some rare native vegetables, fruits and fishes from remote places in the Amazon basin and the Andes altitudes with the aim of helping customers discover new flavours.

A ‘Pisco Bar’ in which the menu will be designed for sharing and served as finger food, with small piqueos dishes, best described as Peruvian tapas. These dishes will sit alongside an extensive cocktail list based on Pisco infusions with Amazonian fruits, Andean herbs, and local UK products as well.

Located in Covent Garden, LIMA Floral will be grounded and unpretentious, sophisticated and modern but with a youthful South American sense of fun.

We booked for a very early sitting to take advantage of the pre-theatre menu, which is very good value. I had the 1/4 chicken which was deliciously moist and flavoursome. My wife chose from the a la carte menu and thoroughly enjoyed the sea bream. The corn bread rolls we had were delicious as were the donuts for dessert. Wine we had was very good and fairly priced for the glass. Staff and management were receptive to feedback and very accommodating: the only thing we didn't like was the broccoli, the initial taste was lovely, but, for us, there was too much chilli, which meant we couldn't eat it. However, they can easily cook this without the chilli, worthwhile knowing for next time! The location makes it incredibly convenient for the many theatres in the area.
Saturday Lunch for a post workout meal. It was absolutely delicious. Cevice and roasted chicken. Perfect combo. The place has a lot of character and the stuff is very professional.Food: 5/5
Service was pleasant and efficient. The food was tasty. Not a huge selection but that can be good as you know the dishes will be goodFood: 4/5
I really love this place, tho the prices are a bit expensive. Our mistake but once we payed we realized that we asked for tap water and they charged us the water, as well as you will be able to see that there is a charge for a charity that we weren’t asked. Besides that, I find the food from this place really really tasty, a bit overpriced maybe where you average we spent £58 per person and we only had one drink eachplus the waters. Regarding vegetarian options, its quite limited however EVERYTHING is super tasty. Vegetarian options: Their vegetarian options are exquisite if you don’t have any dietary restriction. They change the menu often by what I could see. Might want to check their menu online before going or giving a call as they only have one main vegetarian.
Words cannot describe how DELICIOUS the food was. I went there with a friend who booked via a Time Out Voucher Glass of Prosecco, 3 cold dishes, 3 hot dishes for 29 GBP per person. I can highly recommend this course as long as it is available. You get a pretty amazing selection of food and various tastes. There was not one dish that wasn't impressive. We even went further and ordered a dessert mango panacotta with raspberries and coffee. The waiters were really friendly, polite and always paying attention to their guests. I really felt comfortable there!
Very disappointed by this place after eating at Lima. If you're debating between here and Lima, go to Lima. While they are sister restaurants, Lima's service, food, and atmosphere was all MUCH better. We'll start with the positives - atmosphere and location. It is close to Covent Garden and other bars. The outdoor area is nice and breezy. The food was okay. While the menu is very similar to Lima, the quality wasn't as good. The fish was relatively fresh, but the seasoning was not up to par. The worst part was the service. We didn't have one waiter or waitress, which is fine, but we did not appreciate being asked the same questions over and over again by different people within the span of 5 minutes. We were asked if we finished our first plate by one person, then immediately as they walked away, a second waiter asked if he could take the plate. We felt consistently watched as we enjoyed our food at a normal pace. We came early to our booking and left with plenty of time before our time slot ran out for the next booking. They weren't even that busy as 4-5 of them were consistently chatting at the host desk. A pretty looking place, but not somewhere I'll come back again to.
Overall. Not bad at all , interesting flavour. South America sweet and sour , we did special request belly pork to cook softer and it taste lovely like the , pineapple desert , touch strong on salt may be I am Asians taste butt , but everything is nicely cool
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the food. His steak was delicious and well seasoned. My octopus was perfect. As a non drinker, I was surprised and pleased to see 3 mocktails on the menu. The Peruvian Malbec was fantastic. The tiramisu was to die for. My boyfriend said it’s the best he’s ever tasted, and we ate it in Rome! The food came very quickly, very well presented. Service was great if a little quick at times. We had to wait a while for the bill and asked in the end. The music and atmosphere was beautiful. They played our favourite bossa nova tracks which was wonderful. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough. Thank you Flora for a wonderful experience on a special day.
The food was amazing however they had crammed so many tables around one another it was difficult to have a normal conversation with my dinner date. We struggled to hear one another. We were a party of two and were surrounded by similar size parties or of tables of 4. There was plenty of space within the building including tables down stairs. We had booked in advanced and I expected a little better of an experience. Service was ok... Lovely friendly staff however dishes were taken away whilst we were still eating them. Which was extremely poor service etiquette. For such a great venue I expected a little more attention to detail on the service. My only other slight frustration was the poor health of their plants. Their social media shows beautiful plans however they are in poor condition and rather disheveled. The food side of things was beyond delicious and amazing I would go back but would specifically ask for a downstairs table. Great wine selection as a Soho venue it's great. I just anticipated it being far more polished as it is projected on the social media platforms. I hope improvements are implemented. Have to say the sea bream ceviche was out of this world delicious fragrant, elegant and fresh flavours. It's a must try dish. All their dishes are very pretty. I didn't like the empanadas or the plantain tarts I'm sure others would but they just went that refined. Boa bun was delicious though. I would go back and give them another chance.
We had a great time at Floral. The place is cozy and very well decorated. The meals presentation were outstanding and the dishes were also delicious. I was only disappointed by the dessert. I ordered the tres leches and it was not as delicious as other tres leches I have tried. I regret not ordering the chocolate mousse.Food: 4/5
