Koha Restaurant & Bar

Story

Set in the heart of London's theatre land, tucked between to stage doors of Wyndam's and Noel Coward theatres lies KOHA Restaurant & Bar were you can sample really special type of hospitality.

There are two sides to KOHA - a wine cellar bar - and a spirited elegant dining room at street level, excellent for Pre-theatre dinners, business meetings, or just a cool glass of wine away from the sun during the day or a shelter during cold winter nights.

KOHA opened in 1994 and it was not long before they gained the special reputation for excellent food and unique hospitality.
In 1998, KOHA was nominated for the prestigious ' Carlton Restaurant ' award. The food is always fresh and wholesome and the drinks include amusing cocktails made with fresh juices and fruits, and as wide a selection of wine and spirits as you could wish for.

Now, KOHA has become the well-known haunt of some of London's most interesting communities of artists, journalists, sportsmen, politicians, as well as passers-by who stumble accidentally and fortuitously into a very special environment.

KOHA is a tiny gem in the centre of London. One visit is all it will take for you to become a devotee!

Lovely small restaurant. Service was excellent, and the food was tasteful. The only thing is that you need to make reservations for a table at high hours, and it's pretty small, so if there are bigger groups, the noise can be a bit much. Vegetarian options: Only a few options. Would recommend looking at the menu only before hand.
We visited this restaurant based on its high rating on Google. We had OX Cheek and Wild Sea-bass fillet for the main course and Cheesecake for dessert, along with red wine from Chile. Everything was excellent, but not quite enough to make me feel the need to return to this restaurant when I am in London again. What I would criticize is that the fish served could have been warmer, or at least the plate could have been heated. On the other hand, what I would praise is the good value for money.
Super nice evening on the lazy Sunday night during our stay in London. The restaurant is exceptionally well positioned in a quiet little nook at the end of a quiet street in the incredibly busy theater district. We were recommended to come here by our flat host where we are staying. We came with two adults and two children ages 10 and 14. Being a lazy Sunday night, we definitely had plenty of attention on us, and we felt very well taken care of. The food was quite tastefully prepared and timely delivered. The presentation was pretty nice. I had the lamb shoulder, which was quite tender, and modestly seasoned. Flavor of the meat came through quite well. My wife had the prawn ravioli, which was quite good. And my daughter had the chicken. She did indicate the chicken was slightly dry. We had the ciabatta as a starter and that was quite good. We ended with the chocolate and hazelnut desert as well as the pomegranate cheesecake. The deserts were exceptional. I had additional old-fashioned, which was pretty heavy on bitters for my taste. And my wife had the Prosecco, which I think she enjoyed quite well. Our son is a picky eater and got fries, but they made him feel welcome anyways : Regardless, it felt like a less touristy stop, and we definitely had great service and a wonderful time. I highly recommend to stop here if in the area. I imagine it could be a quite a bit more busy any other day of the week so I strongly recommend reservations.
Happened to stumble upon Cafe Koha on an early Monday afternoon with little to no crowd. We were immediately seated outside and Fidel was a delight to talk to as we ordered and watched the theater crews arrive. The boar sausage is juicy and creamy without being overbearing, with a matching sauce that completely won me over. My partner ordered the duck breast, which was cooked perfectly. And if they have time to recommend the house cheesecake, you better take up their offer. It is light and airy and creamy and wonderfully decorated with a variety of fruits. Everything is made in-house, the wait staff was super attentive and informative. Altogether an absolute joy to find this place. Looking forward to coming again on our next trip to the city!
We were walking around trying to find a place open and with actual seats available, when we found this place. What a discovery. The staff is friendly and polite, and the atmosphere is quite cosy and inviting. Food arrived quickly. I ordered the special of the day which was pork belly, and could literally eat a bucket of it. Dessert was nicely presented and very tasty as well. A very nice place, conveniently located steps from a tube station; serving great food.
This was the best food we had during our short business trip in London. We came from Singapore and were looking for a cosy spot serving British/European fare and were sooo lucky to have found Koha. The atmosphere of the place is super cosy and the service staff were impeccable on both occasions we dined there — yes the food was SO good that we had to go back for our last dinner kudos to the chefs!! Special shout-out to Shaq and Drill for the amazing service and for making us feel so at home. Thank you for making our trip amazing
We visited Cafe Koha Bar randomly and the reason was it was the only one of the few restaurants with available table on a Saturday night. The staff was friendly and attentive but just kind of slow. Their menu wasn't in a great variety but pretty decent. We got their Pan Roasted Duck Breast and Rib-Eye Steak with port sauce with a hint of truffle. The portion was good enough to share with two of us with reasonable price. The food was overall delicious, especially the steak, it was well-grilled, tender and perfect with the amazing truffle sauce. However, the duck breast could’ve been better, it was a little overcooked and tough to chew.
Very conveniently located right next to exit 1 at Leicester Square tube station. Tucked away in a lane way. Had a nice meal and friendly service. Enjoyed the lamb and duck plus desert.Food: 4/5
Hidden gem close to Leicester Square station. Celebrated a birthday and the food and service were fantastic! Best starters Salmon sashimi and scallops ever! Then the tastiest Steak that was cooked to perfection. Dessert cheesecake with the freshest fruit. Great selection of wine and a complimentary lemon cello to celebrate the birthday girl. Definitely cannot wait to go back. Best start to an evening before the theatre or just for amazing food!
Great experience at Koha, we were greeted nicely and well looked after all through our visit. Scallop and Beef carpachio starters, ox cheek and lamb shoulder mains well presented and very tasty and the pomegranate chedsecake was exceptional. Cocktails and wine all good. Recommended.
