Can get busy on sunny weekends and school holidays. But otherwise a lovely place for a short walk after work or adding a few extra miles to a longer walk if in the area. Car park is free but does have potholes to be aware of. Cafe is pretty decent to and loads of interesting stuff / ideas for the little ones to keep entertained and away from the curse of social media! Visit, enjoy and put your litter and dog poo in the bin!
One of my favourite outdoor place in Birmingham. Has a good Visitor centre and plenty of parking spaces. Great for kids, with a play area and picnic benches. Guideposts for walking trails at different levels are quite helpful. Please be careful of nettle and stingy plants, and steep tracks especially if you have a buggy. I’d suggest wearing boots or appropriate footwear if you want to go on a hike. Overall, a great outing option for your family and children.
One of the best outdoor spaces in the Midlands open to the public for walks and general enjoyment of nature. Good facilities at the Visitor Centre and ample parking for those arriving from far away. Great for kids, with a play area and picnic benches. Guideposts for walking trails at different levels of distance, elevation, and difficulty. Playground: Well equipped children's playground next to the Visitor Centre and car park. Restrooms: Restrooms available at the Visitor Centre during normal opening hours Picnic area: Benches outside the Visitor Centre and dotted about all round the park.
Beautiful space to go walking. A choice of walk routes, too. I'd advise taking a picnic out packed lunch as the cafe is no longer there. However, the toilets are open during park hours.
We went on the recent bank holiday weekend. It wasn't too busy. My friend & I had a lovely walk, but be prepared with decent waterproof footwear if you want to hike. It was really muddy as most of the track was in the shade, so it didn't dry up. Also wear long sleeves as there are nettles and holly in a lot of places. Especially if you deviate from the stone/main path & go exploring like we did! The weather was lovely & enjoyed my day regardless!
This was a great place, plenty of different walking paths with awesome views, lots of free parking near the visitor centre, a cafe in the visitor centre with a seating area inside and outside. A couple of monuments to see, benches everywhere to sit down on and take in the lovely scenery and a play area for the children. A good place for couples, families and dog walkers. There are toilets too.
Fantastic 360⁰ views. Great place for a walk or just to sit out in the open. Dog-friendliness: Let the dog off the lead and wear itself out. Picnic area: Great place for a family picnic
This place was really charming. Best for hiking. You can have a lovely walk between the woods. Picnic area: Nice picnic area between the woods. Very delightful natural environment.
Great place for dog walking! Loads of places to explore with little paths going off into woodlands. There's a visitor centre with clean toilets and refreshments. We only noticed one place where we needed to put Jeff on the lead. The rest of the time he was able to bound around freely. He had an absolute ball here. Dog-friendliness: Super dog friendly. Lots of poop bins and you can keep the dog off the lead apart from around the playground and picnic area near the visitor centre.
My favourite Boxing Day destination, but actually beautiful in any season. Not that many miles of trails for the seasoned hiker, but still a brilliantly convenient escape to the hills for those of us living in the hellish West Midlands.
