Really fantastic museum. Always find something new and different to look at. The Museum is free with donations encouraged. The dinosaurs and Egyptian area have some amazing displays to look at. It has something for everyone with displays for younger children so good place to visit for families. The displays and exhibitions are always changing so different artwork and items on display. Has a cafe inside with seating area serving sandwiches, cakes and hot drinks. Has a small shop.
I had a great time at the museum! There was a lot of diversity in the exhibits, which was great for my group because we all have different interests. The "I grew up 80s" was definitely a favorite though! I would highly recommend anyone to go here. We spent about 2 hours there and that was plenty of time to see everything and read many of the signs.
Visited for the grew up in the 80s exhibition. Well put together with a lot of nostalgia and recognisable items for all ages. Museum in general still has its charm and even though the main exhibits haven’t had huge changes, bring back childhood memories! Arrived around 11:30 and wasn’t too busy for a Saturday.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
This museum is called the new walk museum. it's situated in a Very historical part of this picturesque city. Entrance is free. It's well maintained and the structure of the building is a majestic blend of Old and New. It's not a large museum like that in London but yet a Nice to visit Place for anyone keen on such places.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
It was a great experience; the Jurassic gallery was very thrilling, and there some interactive showcases which made it even more entertaining. The art gallery contained a well variety of paintings, both portraits and sceneries. There was a gallery dedicated to WW2 with the title of "thou shall not kill", which really made you think! The Egyptian section was very misty, with the red lighting and the mummies! The museum was quiet and not crowded at all.
The museum showcases a wide variety of travelling national museum exhibitions as well as items from the collections in its temporary displays. The venue is also available for private hiring and has a variety of activities including fascinating talks, kid-friendly handling sessions, lunchtime performances, and a licence for marriages and civil ceremonies. International and local exhibits of science, history, and art can be found at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery. There is no admission charge. a truly amazing museum. Always look for anything fresh and new to observe. The Museum is free, while donations are preferred.
We made a visit yesterday with the kids as its half term. The last time I went was 10 years ago so was very excited. The kids really enjoyed this place so much to see and learn. Was very happy to see a small playroom which was perfect for my 1 year old. Lovely day out. Defo worth a visit. Plus its Free....Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Very nice and incredibly informative, I always really enjoy coming here. I particularly love the animal and dinosaur area, I also now really like the new area that was about Leicester and the history. Although, that stuffed monkey still freaks me out to this day. There are frequent new areas, which i find really cool. Random note, I used to think when I was younger that the giraffe's body was underground, and that was why the head was only visible. I look back and laugh every time I go and see it. This awesome building has stuck with me, and I love it to pieces, even if I see the same stuff over and over.
I took my daughter here for the I lived in the 80s exhibition. Well worth the visit with loads of childhood memories on display. Shame it wasn't a little bigger but we had a look round the rest of the museum which had some great stuff in from fine art to dinosaur's. Worth a visit and specially since it's free to public
The museum is just 5 min walk from the train station. We came from London to visit Leicester. The museum was our first stop. We visited the museum with our kids because of the dinosaur skeletons. We were pleasantly surprised to become part of an arts and crafts Diwali event, which the kids really enjoyed. The art gallery has some beautiful artworks worth seeing. There was also a temporary exhibition of pottery works by Picasso. There was a shop and a café which we didn’t visit. I would say that this is the right size of a museum and gallery so that kids don’t get too tired.
