I'd never been near a gym, nor wanted to, before I started pilates classes at Lear to help build core strength to enable me to work more effectively as a canine hydrotherapist. I felt really welcome from the start and enjoyed the classes. During lockdown the online classes kept me going and now, fully retired I'm taking 2 classes a week as well as monthly physio or massage sessions with Katy. She's been wonderful at keeping me motivated and dealing with my various niggling injuries. The team are great at adapting exercises and classes so that everyone can enjoy them and they push us as far as we need without making them too much. I love it!
I was referred to LEAR by Maggie’s in Leeds for an assessment and a course of Pilates sessions. Katy Stroomer is the physio I have seen mostly. I had a very thorough 2 hour assessment to start with and Katy gave excellent explanations about everything and talked me through my results. Since then I had some one to one sessions followed by a number of group sessions. Katy is very good at varying the exercises each time and catering for the needs of the group. The sessions are very enjoyable and I feel I am benefiting from them. Maggie’s and LEAR have a good partnership.
A throughly professional & friendly group of people ensure that close attention is given to individuals’ needs. This makes attending Lear Fitness classes not just a really good way of helping to keep fit, but also an enjoyable experience. As we are supported in our sessions by qualified physiotherapists, it is especially helpful when experiencing & overcoming injuries to combine 1:1 physiotherapy appointments with a fitness plan designed to address the specific area of concern. Another positive feature of Lear Fitness is that the business is always looking for ways to improve and introduce changes to meet members’ requirements. It is also apparent that Lear keeps up with the times, ensuring the team gets up to date training, whilst gaining verbal feedback from clients at classes. It took my Wife a good while to persuade me to join Lear Fitness, initially attending Pilates sessions. It is now some 4 or 5 years since I did. We’ve been through the various Covid lockdown rules and restrictions which again were addressed most professionally by Lear and emerged on the other side. Pilates & the recently introduced Hybrid Pro gym classes have become an essential for me, having greatly missed Pilates during the times of complete lockdown. It isn’t “like joining any old gym” being a member at Lear Fitness. You genuinely do feel like & get treated as an individual by a highly professional team of people from the top down.
I've had lots of physio over the years and the team at Lear are the best I have come across by far. From the first time I stepped through the door I have been treated with professionalism and compassion, from my initial assessment with Jon and then my weekly cancer rehab sessions with Katy. I am now able to join a class, as well as continue my tailored 1-2-1's something I thought I would never be able to do when I first got there. Thank you Team Lear!
I never imagined that I could enjoy exercise so much at a fitness centre. I absolute love going to see these lovely people - everyone professionally trained, dedicated, friendly & so much fun. I would recommend to everyone no matter what your level of fitness is to give it a try . Mat Pilates & reformers have changed my whole outlook on life. Thank you Lear fitness.
As a new client to pilates 6 months ago Lear has given me the time, patience and direction to ensure i develop and achieve my goals re posture and fitness . Every instructor shows real understanding of the clients abilities , The instruction even within a busy class always ensures a worthwhile session . Lear has totally changed my previous negative approach to fitness and wellbeing .
I really enjoy going to Lear and have done for quite some years now. It is the only place I have actually ‘stuck with’ for my exercise needs which is amazing in its self as I’m in my mid 60’s and had always found exercise a struggle. Everyone at Lear is just so professional, supportive, knowledgeable and kind. It’s a real joy to go. I’ve also taken advantage of their Physiotherapy services when needed and find that having exercise and physio all in one place and given by the people who know me is such a bonus.
The Pilates classes I’ve done at LEAR have all been great. The staff are so friendly and helpful and make you feel so at ease even when you’re a complete newbie! I’m now nearly 12 months in and still look forward to each session. Lucy in particular at the Leamington branch is brilliant.
Great physio led reformer sessions which keep me moving! Lear was the biggest thing I missed in the pandemic and I’m so pleased to be back in class. Lovely knowledgeable staff to sort out those aches and pains with 1:1 sessions when I need it.
Just over two years ago, a catastrophic event left me paralysed below the waist. Straight to LGI Neuro Wing, Luckily within a few days I was able to wiggle my toes and then subsequently learned to stand. Then Covid and I left hospital to convalesce at home and try to learn to walk again, on my own. Not hugely successful. Fast forward a year on and Lear Health Partners in Harrogate were recommended to me, I joined and began to work with Jon. Another year on and I have been through an intensive physio but enjoyable programme and am now getting to grips with a reformer! My progress has been, frankly unbelievable and quite fabulous. I can now walk unaided, have recovered most of, if not nearly all my sense of balance. I am still working on my proprioception but am getting there. I am so much stronger both physically and mentally. Jon designed my programme, has mentored me, cajoled me and has most importantly inspired me to believe that anything is possible. I still have a along way to go, but never in wildest dreams, did I imagine that I would get this far. Thank you. Peter S
