Again fantastic staff at the gym, my gripe is with David Lloyd the company. They have spent £3m apparently improving the gym, but if you want to do a work out it’s very poor compared to what we had. There is no way of elwctronically tracking your work outs and the gym staff don’t know much about any of the new equipment so more training required. comments and emails to the gym nobody has been able to give any satisfactory answers to my queries on tracking workouts in order to improve performance.

Incredibly overpriced. The club is not much better than the Academy was, and there's definitely better tech out there for measuring performance. Changing rooms are nice and staff seem friendly though.

First thing to say is that the staff are extremely friendly and helpful here and note that this review is on the weight room alone, not the rest of the centre, which seemed quite good. If it wasn't for the staff, I would have rated it two stars. The biggest problem for me was the price. There was no indication on the website as to how much the gym would cost but it ended up costing £7.80 for a day pass, which includes access to the gym and the swimming pool. Why not charge less for people who only want to use the Gym? Are you actually charging people for the pool as well as the gym, or is the pool a bonus? The cost is way too overpriced in my opinion (considering the size of the weight room, number and quality of weights and number of machines available). The dumbbells should also have been better quality than they where. I don't think they could have bought them any cheaper if they tried. The dumbbells where plastic and I think even the grips where plastic, but where made to look metallic). You can also forget having a productive workout (unless you just do cardio) when it's busy, as just four people using the weight room is way too many for the available equipment and space. On a positive note, the car park is big, there is water available and the room was air conditioned. It was clean as well and the weights where properly racked. It also seems that a window was recently installed, which was a big improvement but it's still way too small. There should be the free-weights and a couple of machines at the most in there, instead of cramming in as much equipment as possible to save space. I would value a day pass at no more that £4.50 at this gym (excluding the pool).

Lovely health club with friendly, helpful staff. The best equipped gym in Harrogate and lovely pool and steam room/sauna.

The gym is lovely, the staff are fab right through from trainers to domestic staff, always friendly. Always ready to change your programme for you and give you the time of day. Gym equipment all modern and easy to use. Lovely to have a swim, steam and shower before home. Would highly recommend.
