It’s taken a year to write our review following our amazing wedding at Le Gothique in June 2023. Great people, great place, wonderful food and they were a good mix of accommodating and educating so we ended up making the right choices for our special day. Andrew was great, worked with us for our requirements, always offering advice, listening and accepted when we wanted specific things. It’s a great venue with outdoor space as well as indoor bar and seating, all set within a wonderful historic Gothique building. We held the ceremony in the garden with all seats supplied and Andrew worked with our design agency who set up flowers, archways, seats covers etc. The garden offers choices on seating layouts and arrangements but we used the central tree as out focal point for the ceremony. We brought in London Strings duet who are highly recommended for live classical background. After the ceremony and whilst photos were being taken we served drinks and canapes which we had carefully selected with the team at Le Gothique. The venue has tables and chairs and you have great space outside with overhead covers to arrange how you wish. We had our decorators set out the tables and worked closely with Andrew to ensure all worked for the final seating plan. The food we had chosen a few weeks before in a tasting session from the whole menu! A real highlight! was delightful, everything arrived promptly and exactly as we had seen it before. We had allowed guests to have unlimited wines, chosen some specific wines before with the team at Le Gothique and they went down a treat. Their flexibility as the event timings ran late and fitting in speeches was terrific. We brought in lighted signs, a 3D rotating camera system and other specific items which were all well accommodated. Finally we brought in a live band, who were amazing! Andrew has their details… Initially we were disappointed once we realised the band were not allowed to play outside in the garden as discussed in the wedding planning meetings. But actually the band playing indoors by the bar was just great. It worked so well and guests really enjoyed the ability to stay outside in the quieter area or come in for dancing up close to the live band who were busy with requests. We even had the bar staff dancing! The Le Gothique team allowed us to bring in outside caterers Brazilian supper menu to complement their own food for supper. Overall, a great venue, amazing for an outdoor wedding and to bring in live classical music and bands, perfect for up to 100 people and we found really well priced. The Le Gothique team all worked very hard to make our day special, not only on the day but at the build up and we cannot thank them enough. Highly recommended and the best day of our lives. Oh and many of our guests said it was the best wedding they had been to! 30deg sunshine and the Provence rose did help also Thanks Andrew, Mark and the Le Gothique team in making our day so special and memorable. Great job
Incredible and beautifully cooked/presented food. Flying visit to London, staying nearby, looking after son’s dog, so didn’t want to travel far to eat. So glad I booked in at Le Gothique. Staff were warm and accommodating .. and the dog was made very welcome too! Amazing value for money and food was on par with the best I’ve ever had! Will definitely return and highly recommend to others.,
Almost two weeks have passed since our wedding at Le Gothique and we are still over the moon with how amazingly everything went! We found Le Gothique back in December and we booked it almost straight away as it matched all the requirements for our July wedding. Stunning location, affordable wedding package and last but definitely not least, delicious food! We communicated with Mark over email and then we met Andrew and they were both great throughout the all process. From answering promptly to our emails, to showing us around when we first visited, to making us feel like VIPs during our wedding menu tasting and finally to executing perfectly every aspect of our big day last week! Our guests were so happy with the wedding meal and lots of our London friends thanked us for introducing them to such a wonderful restaurant to which they will return in the future. We also appreciate how attentive everyone was with regards to some of our guests with serious allergies. A special thank you to all of Le Gothique waiting team, they were so lovely, professional yet friendly and kept a smile on their faces throughout an undoubtedly long day. Once again, many of our guests commented on how great the customer service was during the all day. We must not forget the chefs and kitchen team for preparing such a delicious meal, we choose Tuna tartare&goat cheese salad as starters, gnocchi&confit de canard as mains, raspberry tart&sorbets as desserts. We cannot really recommend a specific dish as they were all great! Thank you again for such a special day.
We had an enjoyable dinner at Le Gothique. We were sat outdoors but the courtyard was well heated. For starters we had the kings prawns and goats cheese salad. We definitely preferred the goats cheese salad of the two items. For mains, we had the burger and sea bass which were both very enjoyable. The dessert was a bit of a let down with the lady fingers in the tiramisu not being soaked at all so they were hard. The lava cake tasted supermarket bought and microwaved. Service was quick and polite. If it wasn’t for the dessert this would have definitely deserved a 5 star rating.
Le Gothique hosted our wedding last Saturday. It was amazing and we couldn’t have asked for more. We chose Le Gothique as we’d tried the amazing food and we knew it would be a beautiful but unique venue too. Friends told us it was the best food they’d ever had at a wedding. It was really important to us to have good food that wasn’t just the typical stuff you get at weddings, and they certainly delivered! What was really fantastic though was how communicative, friendly and helpful Andrew was throughout the whole wedding planning process. He remembered everything and was so wise about it all which made us feel a lot calmer. Other venues we spoke to took a couple months to reply to an email, or you’d be speaking to a different person each time who had no idea what was going on. Andrew would get back to us basically immediately which made wedding planning far less stressful. He was so organised and remembered all the little things, like where to put a certain photo or vase, or putting our chocolate favours away for a bit so they wouldn’t melt in the sun. He even came up with some great ideas for the day. It really felt like he wanted us to have the best time - and we did! Something else I found really lovely and special is that they did not try to exploit us for money at all in a wedding industry which often does - their package was so reasonably priced for what it was and any extras we asked for, they gave the best advice to do it in the most efficient way. This meant we had an open bar for all of our guests and everyone was so well fed for such a good price point! I think it’s so important to support smaller, family run businesses and we clearly saw the advantages in this of how personal our wedding day was and how great the support was from the whole team. Their staff were so polite, friendly and hardworking. They worked so hard to feed, tidy up and give drinks to over 100 people. Please please pass my thanks on to absolutely everyone in the Le Gothique team - you all smashed it. Another thing that makes Le Gothique such a uniquely amazing wedding venue is the convenience. Most wedding venues you either have to drive a long way or it’s in central london with no parking. Le Gothique benefits from being near public transport but also having good parking around in it, which made it easier for all our guests. We could also have our ceremony on site so we didn’t need to pay for transport or rush guests around to different venues. It made our wedding feel so much more chill. I would absolutely recommend Le Gothique for any event, and I know we’ll certainly be back for meals and more in the future! : thank you so much again!
Le Gothique, and the experience it provided to us on our wedding day can be summed up in one word... it was "magical". When we were looking for a venue for our wedding reception we wanted something a bit different from the norm, once we set eyes on the building that houses Le Gothique and its gothic style decor we were instantly sold, no other venue we looked at even came close, and being a stones throw from were we live was an added bonus. We didn't even know the building the Royal Victoria Patriotic building that housed Le Gothique even existed until we stumbled on it whilst doing our online searches. Booking Le Gothique for our chosen date also allowed us to choose from either having our wedding reception within the internal restaurant area, or, the outside courtyard double-marque covered area... obviously we chose the courtyard with one eye on the weather reports as our wedding date approached. Luckily we had a day with good weather when our day arrived. Once we started dealing with Andrew he was always courteous and answered all our questions and queries on the numerous occasions we interacted with him. On the evening that we came for the "tastings" it was difficult to choose between the dishes as they were all tasty, but, we did eventually settle on the duck pate, lamb and raspberry mascarpone as the main three courses. We were more than pleased that alongside our chosen three course meal for our guests that Le Gothique were happy to accommodate the Greek starters we supplied, it's safe to say everyone ate well on the day and probably ran out of space to even have some of our tasty wedding cake! Andrew and all the staff at Le Gothique made sure our day went without a hitch and ran as smoothly as possible and we can't thank them enough for that and they appeared to work seamlessly well with our flower and wedding cake arrangers. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Le Gothique, especially for anyone else looking for a place that has a special feel to it to have a memorable wedding reception. Andy & Rowena
We came here for a wedding and had a lovely time. The food was delicious and the building itself was gorgeous and so historic. The only downside was that we were seated outside and it was freezing - there weren’t enough heaters to go around!
What a truly magical place this is ! Le Gothique has a quirky bohemian atmosphere . The food is excellent and there is an upstairs dining area and a heated courtyard area outside . The bar itself is full of character with fun staff and a great selection of fine wines and beers . The place is known in the past for hosting a range of celebrities . Andrew the general manager couldn’t be more accommodating when we brought a large party in for Sunday lunch . Gabi was also very attentive with all our guests . I would definitely recommend le Gothique as a fabulous place to dine , have a drink at the bar or indeed to book for a private party or large group of diners . It also caters for weddings which is something we may return for in the future ! Parking: Parking in courtyard outside the restaurant
Lovely courtyard garden. Great spot for a drink or a meal. Dog friendly. Right next to Wandsworth Common.Food: 5/5
A hidden gem indeed. Housed in the iconic Royal Victoria Patriotic Building you would never find it! Lovely gastropub, with an unmistakingly French bistro look, the paintings a step back in time. It is almost like being transported to another era. The wall uplighters and candle lights compliment perfectly the thick dark stain wooden tables with a beautiful patina and red velvet/dark brown leather chairs. Very atmospheric and contrasts beautifully with the terrace outside in the courtyard I loved it. Starter of gambas flambee, main confit de canard and fondant au chocolat as dessert. The food is ok, well cooked, the prawns in particular were very tasty, and there's a limited but adequate seleccion of wine, all reasonably priced. The staff are great and the service excellent. Andrew was superb, indeed a gem within the hidden gem. If you are looking for a fine gastronomic experience in a modern Michelin star restaurant, then it's certainly not the place. But if you are looking for a different type of experience, to soak up the feel of an iconic Victorian building and enjoy a romantic meal al fresco then I would certainly recommended. It is different and I personally loved it.
