Laurence Sandum's academy offers a friendly and professional tuition manner from all of its highly qualified instructors. My initial impressions after joining were confirmed just after a few lessons. Having studied some various arts beforehand it was a breath of fresh air to finally find a dedicated academy that prides itself on reputation and quality instruction. Here gradings are not given out they are earn't with hard work and dedication. This ensures that once you reach your targets you can be confident in your own abilities which ensures the development of confidence, increased self esteem and physical fitness. My seven year old son is also a member, he has gained benefit from increased concentration in his school work, self discipline and respect for his peers and teachers alike. This includes the added bonus of effective self defence. I would recommend the academy to anyone, it can offer not just professional martial arts tuition but also the practical application of positive mind set and attitude that can be applied to everyday life. I have now embarked on my Certified Instructors training course with the academy and look forward to giving something back in the future.

I have been with the academy for more than a year now and I am absolutely loving it. If I had the time, I would be there 7 days a week. All the instructors are highly qualified, very knowledgeable and most importantly, very friendly and helpful. All the members who train in the academy are also very helpful and fun to learn from and with. Most of the instructors are Black Belts in more than one discipline of MA and is always a good opportunity to learn or just be exposed to different forms. I would definitely recommend Laurence Sandum's Black Belt Martial Arts Academy for anyone who is interested in MA, want to get fit or just learn something new.

I have been training here several times a week for over 3 years now in four of the many arts offered here and thanks to the patience and dedication of the instructors have so far achieved black belt in one art and hope to achieve black belt in two of the other arts this year. I can honestly say I love every second I spend here, the atmosphere of the whole place is so inviting and friendly and everyone from the highest instructor to the newest member wants to help you progress to the best of your ability. It really is at great place to train and more recently I'm enjoying repaying my training by helping out with the kids classes

Have read the review from Marnie Sutton, who I suspect may have a vested interest in the club as this does not read like an impartial review from a parent. I read with interest about the month by month contract, as I can categorically state this option was not offered to me. If this is something which has been brought in recently, then I would urge parents to use this option and not touch the Educational Funding Company's contract with a bargepole! The terms of the contract are not fully explained - in fact I believed I was signing up for a year's classes with the Judo Club itself, not a third party finance company. I believed I would be able to cancel at any time if my financial circumstances changed. I still believe this is bad practice for recreational lessons for children - comparison to a Sky+ contract is not justified in my opinion. In all the time of my young relative attending, I have never seen a badge given out. It is actually the gradings which are expensive - £32 per grade - and progression seems to depend upon taking these gradings. I would like to reiterate that Graham was always brilliant - I have no complaints with him whatsoever.

I joined here late November 2012 and in my opinion this Academy is fantastic, as are the highly skilled instructors here Very friendly and always willing to help you out in any way they can I would and have recommended this academy to friends and family no matter what their desired goal is, being general interest in an art or weight loss etc it can be met here, i myself have had nutritional advice from the instructors and with all the hard work i actually went from 15.5stone (just before Christmas) to 13.5stone (April) So come and try it for yourself! 10/10! Highly recommended!
