I am not a huge fan of Italian cuisine but my friend came over to my office after work and we were both hungry and decided to have a nice chat over food so we visited L'ulivo. The dishes we ordered were not bad but we both agreed they could be improved in terms of seasoning or something. We were not wow-ed. My dish was supposed to be spaghetti in tomato sauce but I wanted rice so they made a modification to risotto for me. The rice was undercooked. I don't like chewy rice. Not sure if that's how risotto is supposed to be. The dish was £23. I've got better satisfaction from cheaper dish elsewhere. On the more positive side, the service was ok. Waiters were respectful. The ambience is nice as well. But most importantly, the company was great. Kid-friendliness: You can bring older kids here Parking: No parking. Take the public transport Wheelchair accessibility: No wheelchair accessibility
Walked into this restaurant by chance and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food! We were blown away by the lamb shank from the Christmas menu. Ordered risotto and their signature salmon & spinach pasta, which were great as well. Highly recommend this place!!
Good spacious Italian restaurant. A good selection of Pizzas and pasta s. The portions are generous. The price is reasonable for west end. You can watch the chef doing his magic thru the window.
Had a wonderful Belated NYE dinner with my partner. The food was lovely. Enjoyed the spinach and ricotta ravioli and we both loved the chianti served here. Not bad at all! Vegetarian options: Not a bad selection of veggie dishes. Could use a few more choices for the returning customers.
Nice vibe, friendly staff. I ordered the stake and a margarita pizza. The medium rare ribeye came a little too rare for my liking, but it was a good thick even cut of meat. The pizza was delicious. Out of 10 I'd rate this place a low 7
Atmosphere was great. Very soothing and adequate for a lovely night. With reservations you get your table pretty fast which we gladly did. Caesar Salad was nice, needs to be mixed before eating to make sure all flavors are mixed with the sauce. Gamberoni Al Burro was tasty and cooked quite nicely. Would’ve loved to taste the sourness more but still good. Penne Fantasia, the classic Pizza Margarita, and Risotto Al Funghi were all good choices that we went with. You can’t go wrong with any of them.
Great restaurant ambience on a nice July summer. Beautiful comfortable seating. Mussels was cooked perfectly. The pasta seafood was bland initially and manager was kind enough to get it made again which was greatly appreciated. Lovey Italian place to come in London.Recommended dishesTagliatelle Machiavelli
Don’t trust the Open Table reviews: I went there, because it seemed to have the best value for money based on 1200 OpenTable reviews. However, the bruschetta was made with flatbread and cheap tomatoes, the staff was not friendly, they never came to check on us for the food and actually were rude when were unhappy with the main. The vegetable soup was not properly tasty, the calamari was deep fried in cheap oil and actually burnt £13!!, the mains were no better: the fish was just about edible, the chicken schnitzel Milanese was absolutely awful - seemed defrosted - and had to be sent back, and the lasagna was a disgrace to Italy! It was made with cheddar. To be fair, the schnitzel was exchanged for free for gnocchi, which tasted okay, had a decent bite, but the sauce was not properly made and was probably just a tomato base for the pizza . Finally, we wanted to know where Chef was from. The waitress didn’t know, and had to ask in the kitchen and turned out that the chefs were from Bulgaria and Bangladesh! I Certainly won’t be going back there.
We left Charing Cross theatre after 10 and we were worried we wouldn't have any place to eat. But this restaurant was just in front and open. I tried the gnocchi and they were delicious. I loved the sauce, it was so tasty and the tiramisu was really good too. Si glad we ended up here.
Excellent food and great service. Good size portions and very enjoyable. Well worth a visit.
