Reviews
This venue - and especially David who overseas the estate - cancelled our booking without warning and nearly ruined our wedding, less than 8 months before our wedding date.
Please avoid or you generally risk having your wedding ruined too!
We booked and paid our deposit to secure the venue. Several months after paying our deposit - and 8 months before we're due to get married - David emailed us to say that our wedding reception must now finish at 10.30pm. Specifically with no more drinks being sold, or music played. This was a completely out of the blue and a genuine shock. No wedding we've ever been to finishes at 10.30! When we booked we also wen’t made aware that this could of been a possibility.
We were understandably upset and when we spoke with David to get him to see what he could do to rectify this. He responded by cancelling our contract completely and leaving us without a wedding venue. The reason he gave was that he said we swore at him over the phone - which we DID NOT! We did however say it was unacceptable to be told so late that our wedding must in effect finish earlier than we agreed to when booking. We also asked to see what could be done to help solve or compensate for his, neither of which he seemed interested in doing.
The venue itself has over doubled in price since we booked and we suspect that our booking was deliberately cancelled to make room for someone to pay the higher price.
I’ve never heard of a wedding venue so callously cancelling on a client at the click of their fingers. A wedding venue is the heart and soul of your big day, and picking the right one takes time and effort. You need to be able to rely and depend on them, not worry about things changing at the last minute, and especially not to be cancelled. All our invites had to be redone, and we lost deposit money on the adjacent house too.
It’s crucial to have a strong partnership with your venue’s contact, as they’re your go between for everything. I’m sorry to say but David clearly lacks the people skills to successfully manage wedding clientele. The is painfully obvious upon meeting him. He seems uncomfortable, almost annoyed if you have too many questions and definitely isn’t a people person.
Book at your own risk, but for the (now increased) price, there are far better and reliable venues available, and far more friendly personnel to deal with.

This place is not very easy to find and is quite poorly signposted. Allow extra travel time if you're visiting. When we went, the vineyard had been in stasis for the last 12 months whilst some legal issues were sorted out. These have now been resolved and the new owner is investing heavily in getting things back up and running and improving everything - watch this space. This is the reason for the 4 star review. I hope to return in future and maybe revise my rating then.
The guide was very amiable and had a great deal of knowledge of viticulture and is also a professional wine taster. The tour itself was quite informal but incredibly informative and involved a nice walk around the scenic vineyard with a lot of explanation about what goes on and how it all works - who knew there was so much science to making wine.
The wine itself was very good and there were so many different varieties produced (including a cider made from the orchard on site).
We loved our time there - thank you.
