Exactly what I want from a country pub. Back in the U.K. at Xmas time and this place filled my cosy nostalgia needs. Fire, views, timber and low roofs, friendly service, great food. Textbook and worth a stop.
Recently changed hands, very disappointing and overpriced meal. The views are some of the best you will find in the area, and for a drink outside in good weather is hard to beat. The menu looks good, but what arrives is a lottery. I would suggest the Honeyed goats cheese and Salmon, definitely avoid the 'pie'. £16.50 for a pile of reheated chicken, covered in squares of compressed ham, drowned in salty stock, and a tray baked bit of puff pastry on top - this is not a pie. The vegetables were a little sparse and undercooked, the new potatoes only just make the plural - three halves were on the plate. One of our party had one half only, and the requested extra one was undercooked and sprouting. Apart from the aforementioned cheese and salmon dishes, every one of the items for our party of 8 were missing something, over seasoned, or poorly cooked. No doubt this pub will remain in profit, the position virtually guarantees it. Unfortunately it appears the new owners are intent on cutting costs to maximise profit margins.
Amazing food, great atmosphere, friendly staff , beautiful location. The landlord is very attentive. Overall a highly recommended experience! 5
We were very happy we found this pub. It's down a narrow lane seemingly in the middle of nowhere, but is perfect for a nice walk followed by a drink and food. The roasts on Sunday are really good, and most importantly the view is amazing.
Fantastic beer, food and views. We did a 2 mile loop from and to the pub and had a brilliant day. Would highly recommend.
Good beer - unfortunately both Cask Ales were out when I visited. Warm fires and good food menu. Some improvements have been made since my last visit - they have installed a viewing platform and an outdoor kitchen for use in warmer weather. Dog friendly with water provided outside in a raised bowl.
Lovely meal, no choice of 'flavoured Gin's' for our party. Service a little hit and miss. Lovely venue and friendly, apologetic staff.
After a stunning walk with your dog this is a view to die for. Nice they allow you to park your car while walking. Good service. Coffee-small for the price.
A very cozy pub with gorgeous surroundings. The food is good and the service isn't bad either. Overall a decent option for a post hike lunch or a relaxed dinner.
What a lovely place and the food and service was impeccable .Best lunch I have had out in a long time . Lovely quality food and beautiful presentation .Thank you .
