Hadn’t visited this pub for a few years and, I have to say, it was a lot scruffier than I remember. My pint of Doom Bar was okay, but I would have preferred the ‘coming soon’ Timothy Taylor Landlord. Staff and customers were friendly enough but, for a pub this far out of St Albans’ centre, it has to ‘up its game’. In comparison it’s pretty average 3-stars. PS. Don’t be swayed by the slightly suspicious glut of 5-star reviews from once-only reviewers…
Easy parking and they welcome dogs very important for us that day. So it was what we needed for a Sunday roast lunch. The roast pork was acceptable. And the service was friendly. Not much atmosphere but no complaints.
Staff are really friendly. I’d recommend going off peak as you will get good service. When we’ve been here when it is busy they do seem to struggle a bit more keeping up. Quite often wait a long time for drinks orders etc. Food is hit and miss. Sometimes we’ve had great meals here and sometimes mediocre. Good kids menu. The new beer garden looks great for when summer comes around.
The king Harry Pub hosted our Christmas Party this year for around 25people. They were very helpful with arranging, we had a great space at the back of the pub and the whole group loved the buffet food. Would highly recommend!
Always loved this pub but the recent refurbishment has really taken it to another level. Friendly staff, great beer range and lovely food. Highly recommend!
Has just recently reopened after a refurbishment and the place is looking nice. Not eaten there yet but a nice array of drinks. The garden has been done up nicely which will be great for the summer
Great location. Good makeover. Better feeling around. Superb garden space. What is missing is sharing nibbles that we could enjoy with drink.
Visited during Christmas , amazing place and really easy to find ! Staff was super nice and helpful, and made me feel super comfortable and at ease . Special shout-out to the youngest of the staff member’s , Electra which makes the finest cocktail you’ll probably have in St. Albans! 10/10.
Great to come visit post refurbishment. Food was excellent with the staff being friendly and helpful. Also nice to see the pub being busy on a lovely day.
Myself and my family had dinner twice in the week at the King Harry. I can only recommend the whole experience we had. The staff are all very friendly and organised despite the restrictions Covid brings. I had the “old faithful” fish and chips which was outstanding. The batter was so crunchy!! The second visit we had the lamb from the specials board. This was absolutely fantastic, one of the best meals I have had in any pub. The drinks are well priced and excellent quality, the Guinness beats any other Guinness in town. Well done Shelby and staff.
