I love this pub! I went for the first time on a Sunday for a roast, and wasn't disappointed. You do need to book in advance as they get booked up super quick, or get there early for a table in the bar. I had the veggie roast which was delish, my friend had lamb, and there was loads of it! Staff were attentive and friendly. The only fault....no Yorkshire pudding, but I was full anyway after the meal : The pub itself is a treasure, full of historical bits and photos. A really lovely place.
Really lovely pub. Lots of parking. Very professional staff. Fitted us in without a booking. Explained how the orders worked very well. Good food. Quick service. And beautiful walking sticks for sale too!Service: 5/5
Lovely hotel in a fantastic location run by fab staff. Good choice of ales, ciders and lagers. Rooms were fine. Lovely showers and a comfy bed. Would have liked to have seen fans in rooms although at least you could open the windows unlike modern hotels chains. We will return which 8 guess is the best recommendation you can give any place!
Our meal here was a disappointment compared to recent reviews and our previous experiences some years ago. The room we were in was mostly occupied by a party of 13 men who were, naturally, enjoying the occasion and shouting to each other along their long table. Entirely reasonable behaviour but it made talking pretty difficult for us. We omitted to notify the venue in advance of my strong intolerance to food containing onions, a very common ingredient, but at this price level it should not have been such a big issue to adapt some of the offers or to make an alternative sauce for some of the meats. Nor does telling a customer that a food intolerance is a matter of choice enhance the occasion. It's literally true as it won't kill you, but who chooses to be ill, possibly for hours? Having eventually agreed on my choice, 10 minutes later the server came back to say they had run out of that. I ended up with fish and chips - the fish was particularly tasteless and just not very enjoyable. My partner did enjoy her venison but wasn’t convinced the defrosted blackberries added anything. She asked for redcurrant sauce. To their credit, this was available, which is not always the case in even quite upmarket restaurants. Overall: "adequate". We can only give three stars.
Superb setting in the the bowl of the hills, stayed three nights in a very comfortable, spotlessly clean room. The staff were exceptionally enthusiastic and helpful. The two evening meals were uneven with an excellent starter and average mains. The breakfast menu was generous but the hot food course timing was poor. I was first down yet as the table filled up with our group, I was nearly the last to be served with a long 15 minute wait. Needs better coordinating.
Perfect setting for a lovely hotel and apartments. It has to be the quietest accommodation we have ever stayed at. Woke up at 6.30 as usual and saw the wild Gower horses casually grazing on the green. No traffic noise, only the dawn chorus for company. Our apartment was spotless, warm and so cosy. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Wonderful meal in the restaurant on the Friday night , and the catering for the wedding on the Saturday was amazing. Perfect wedding and holiday venue. Well done all
Great staff, fantastic location, brilliant menu. And they catered for my son who is a coeliac with no problems whatsoever. Cannot recommend highly enough.Service: 5/5
What a find! We loved it here. Great welcome, first on initial phone enquiry - then in person. Staff friendly and professional. We stayed in the annex 19 Gorgeous room - immaculate and very comfortable. Set in stunning grounds. Great bar food, super quick service. Delicious breakfast. Location Great for exploring the Gower.
The staff, the bar and all the meals we had were fantastic. On that basis I would definitely visit again. The room was too small however, so I would be looking to have a bigger room next time. I also found the mattress too soft for my liking, and the pillows weren't the best... All down to personal preference. Overall loved it and hopefully get back there one day... Rooms: Our room was too small Food & drinks: All excellent
Overall I would say this is a lovely place! Staff are friendly, I booked my room very late into the day, after reception had closed and the bar staff were super accommodating in helping me gain access at such short notice! The pub is a 'proper boozer' smells beautiful, just like a boozer should, bar queue is reasonable, tenders were excellent! What concerned me was my food arriving no more than 3 minutes after I ordered. Upon tasting it was clearly frozen and preheated. Not the end of the world but I wouldn't pay £21 for a pie and a pint when the pie is reheated. Luckily with it being a business trip, the company took the blow Overall I would come back and recommend it to friends, I just wouldn't advise that you have your dinner here, there's quite a few lovely little spots in this beautiful area so I'll eat elsewhere next time. Rooms: I got the small room but I would say it was reasonably sized! Room was clean and had a terrific view
