This place provides great food for good value, a long list of drinks including many specialist Gins and Whiskeys and a lovely environment with a mix of tourists and locals. There are multiple seating areas including a more lounge like restaurant area, a traditional small pub are and an outdoor seating with scenic views of a beautiful Welsh hill landscape. All in all this is a beautiful traditional pub that is well worth a visit!
Great staff & good food with plenty of real ales on bar
E We'd heard and read that this old favourite of ours had changed since the new management took over and that the food portions were skimpy. Well that may have been the case for a while but we went there for lunch today and it was excellent. The beer was top class and the food was tasty and plentiful. The staff were quick and friendly. We will definitely go there again.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food only took about 40 minutes to prepare even though it was very busy there, which I thought was good. It is very comfortable inside, with some very interesting vintage decorations on the walls. Having chosen a mixed grill with the steak done medium-well, I was a little disappointed to find that it was in fact very well done, slightly crispy on the outside! The gammon was also overcooked and the meal in general tasted quite underwhelming for the price paid! It wasn't bad by any means, but it wasn't particularly good either. Average is the best word I can think of to describe my visit.
Polite attentive friendly and helpful staff. Good food good beer other alcoholic beverages also available. A place where you're comfortable having had a strenuous walk with dog dog also welcome. Or a dress up special occasion in restaurant. Children in party enjoyed the the play area with an excellent adventure centre.
Had Sunday lunch after being recommended. It was rather good, not excellent. Maybe my expectations were set too high. Kids loved it there is a playground. Really nice pint of ale, and they do 5l takeouts of their most popular brews. Pity not of the Sampson's Jack, which was delicious.
Good local pub in terms of offering a range of local draught beers and a reasonable range of acceptably priced pub food which is served in generous proportions. Service was good and quality of food good. Plenty of moderately sized screens if you want to watch sport.
Lovely place was a bit cold when we first got there but the lovely bar man lit the fire. Lovely meal had. Home made fish pie was really tasty.my sons curry he loved and my partner had a burger which was nice too. My meal was supose yo come with a potatoe choice bit didnt but it csme with such lovely veg it didnt matter. Will deffinately go back.
Nice pub in Gower. Make their own real ale, although didn't sample it. Large beer garden to the rear with a children's play area. Menu is quite upmarket so it attracts a premium price. Food was good, but had to wait a long time.
Since the pub has been left by the owners to take over the Rake and Riddle, it has gone right down hill. Food , one person served within ten minutes and the rest waited fifty minutes. I had to ask and say if it wasn't out soon I'd like a refund. Brother had a former cheese burger thank goodness he loved it. My lasagna came in a boiling bowl but was tepid ! My Mum's soup was tepid. Staff are not the best. They just sit outside and smoke , or they run around doing not much! All in all a disappointment from start to finish. Happy to go home and feed myself pudding!
