Practitioner profile
I have worked in the NHS for over 31 years originally training to be an NHS Paramedic, Clinical Tutor and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Instructor. In 2004 I qualified as a Specialist Paramedic / Emergency Care Practitioner at the University of Herefordshire and became an autonomous Practitioner.
My career in the NHS has covered several specialist areas including the delivery of NHS training at a National College and lecturing at a large University. I have worked extensively in both the Senior Management and Clinical teams of a busy NHS Ambulance Trust and throughout this time I have continued to build upon my knowledge and skills through experience and Academic studies.
As a practicing Specialist Paramedic and Emergency Care Practitioner I have been extensively trained in Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Patient Assessment. And I have extensive experience in providing advanced levels of care in accident and emergency medicine for acute medical emergencies including trauma, minor injury and illness.
I started training for my second career in 1998 and became a Chartered Physiotherapist and Sports Therapist in 2005. As a Chartered Physiotherapist and Sports Therapist, I am equipped with the skills to asses and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal problems with the spine, joints and soft tissue injuries.
I have also studied and undertaken professional training in Complimentary Medicine including an MSc in Medical Acupuncture.
I believe that this combination of my clinical professions provides me with an excellent skill set which enables me to assess and treat many conditions. Most importantly it enables me to identify when and when not to treat you and when to refer you to your Doctor in order for the most appropriate investigations or treatment provision.
