Story

The place Kerala is situated in the south west part of India. Kerala has a distinctive cuisine, very unusual and different from the rest of India. Our aim is to introduce the taste of Kerala with proper home style cooking using fresh ingredients and spices. The specialities are even reflected on our menu with good selection of vegetarian (especially diary free items) along with non-vegetarian and nice selection of wheat free breads as well. Some of the items are steam cooked, so it’s naturally healthy.

Went here for the first time on Saturday night. It’s a very simple and casual place, the servers were very accommodating and friendly too. Food was amazing! And really value for money. We enjoyed everything we got. Would 100% recommend and would return again. Love places like this who may seem ‘unassuming’ or not as aesthetic but at the end of the day it’s all down to the food. Not to say everything else doesn’t matter but the food is the star of the show and we were happy with the overall service.
Enjoyed the food on Easter with my family in this nice restaurant. Achayans Sadya was really good. Thoppi dosa as usual nice & crispy. Kerala parotta fluffy and authentic! Thank you Sibi, Ratheesh and the girl who was at the front!!Food: 5/5
Authentic Taste of Kerala in Leeds! I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Kerala Restaurant in Leeds, and I must say, it was an unforgettable culinary experience. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy ambiance that transported me straight to Kerala. The menu boasts a delightful array of traditional Kerala dishes, each bursting with authentic flavors and spices. I highly recommend and we started our starters with the crispy beef deep fry BDF and vada rassa vada served with a variety of delectable chutneys. For mains, the Chatti Chor, Kerala-style crab curry was an absolute standout. My favourite was Pal Kappa with Lamb shank and rice, the tapioca in a rich coconut-based sauce that was perfectly balanced in terms of spice and creaminess. The attentive staff made sure every need was catered to, and their knowledge of the menu helped guide us to some fantastic choices. The portion sizes were generous, and every dish was beautifully presented. Overall, Kerala Restaurant in Leeds exceeded my expectations in every way. Whether you’re a fan of South Indian cuisine or simply looking to explore new flavors, this gem of a restaurant is a must-visit. I can’t wait to return and sample more of their tantalizing dishes!

Nice to finally see food from Kerala properly being available in the uk. My overall experience was great, food was tasty & fairly fast but worth the wait. Finally Portions were generous Few things they could improve on: - Toilets - Felt very stuffy inside especially if you are in there for longer. - Wheelchair access is not available right now due to it being upstairs.
First time ever visit. This was a birthday treat for my husband. The staff were very attentive and friendly with a warm welcome. The 2 courses we had was really nice and tasty with generous portions. Highly recommended and we will visit again in the near future. Dietary restrictions: At the point of ordering inform staff .

The food is truly exceptional, the atmosphere is inviting, and the staff are second to none. You won't be disappointed! Vegetarian options: You can try the thali as you get to taste small portions of everything.
Let me go through the positives first. Chicken 65 was good as well as the mains were good. Enjoyed it. The not so positives. 1. The entrance to the restaurant requires cleaning. it looked like the stairs leading to restaurant hasnt been cleaned in days. Not a great look. 2. The restaurant lighting was cold not warm lighting and it was lit primarily by natural light which is ok but just wasnt lit enough. 3. One of the starters had a hair on it not a great start and I think the person who brought it in apologized, I say "I think" because I could hardly hear him and then it was someone else who brought our food and not the same person. I find this strange, its just my opinion. 4. Samosa was stale. 5. There was a party happening and seemed like the restaurant couldnt handle walk in customers, they were taking their time and eventually couldnt provide us with some items at the end and we just cancelled it. They should do better with this or just close the restaurant for walk in customers if they are struggling. 5. We asked to pack our leftovers 3 times as there was a lot of it left. The waiter then brought the bill and then we asked again, she had to go back to change the bill as containers were extra. This just shows she's either not focusing or just lost. 6. The BIG ONE, waiters were nice enough but our kids have nut allergy and when we asked about allergens in Briyani the waitress initially said no and then after placing the order we asked again to ensure there wasnt any, then she mentioned "It's just some cashew sprinkled on top" as if it does'nt matter. This was shocking to us. They need to be made aware of the dangers of nut allergies and any allergies for that matter. This is a serious error. Three stars are for the mains and chicken 65 only.
