Whenever I venture to Prestatyn every few years, it is a ritual that Karl's Fish and Chips is on the itinerary.nThe staff are so welcoming and friendly, and the cooked-to-order food is always a delight with good-sized portions.nI have rated five stars in all aspects of this culinary legend, but would like to make it six stars for the singing I was greeted with when I first entered the shop unnoticed :, along with the humourous chat whilst waiting for the food to cook.nI arrived twenty minutes before closing, and it was no problem at all for two fresh fish to be battered and placed in the fryer for me.nI don't understand the recent negative reviews. It has been about four years between my visits, and I was as happy this time as I was back then. Maybe it is how you approach the staff - have you thought about that?nAs for the batter, ours was cooked to perfection, but the generously applied and proper chippy style vinegar did soften it a little, as it would do anywhere - perfect! The chips were clean and super tasty, as was the mild option of curry sauce. All takeaway fish and chips will naturally cool and go a bit soggy if you are driving even a short distance to eat them, we all know that.nTwo extremely full and happy customers will return, hopefully sooner next time! Great experience, thank you.
The chips looked like they'd been blanched some time the week before and were just warmed up in the fryer. The fish was freshly over cooked and came swimming in grease. The peas could be sliced they were so thick. My partner reported that the gravy was really good. We both had a bit of a dicky tummy the day after.
Karl's was very manic, I waited around 15 minutes to get served by a staff member who was nit very people friendly. I had a small portion of chips and a small fish, together would just be enough for a child's portion and cost £9. I asked for salad and was told they don't serve salad at all and no cd drinks as the fridge was broken. Maybe they was having a bad day today but I really would not go back here again
Avoid this place at all costs.nnThe service at Karl’s Fish and Chip Shop was painfully slow, the staff were rude from the moment we walked in, and the hygiene was disgusting. The man behind the counter kept wiping snot from his nose with his hand and then touching food straight afterwards. Absolutely revolting and completely unacceptable in any food shop.nnAt one point, he came over to listen to my mum, but when another staff member interrupted him, he abruptly put his hand up at her and shushed my mum mid-conversation. It was incredibly rude and disrespectful.nnAnd somehow, despite being a fish and chip shop, the chips were the worst part. Cold, soggy, tasteless — honestly, how do you mess up chips when that’s literally your whole business?nnTerrible experience from start to finish. Save your money and go somewhere else.
The large fish was lovely, the batter was crunchy just how we like it, chips were slightly underdone, gravy & curry were both good. Haven't been for a while and there was a different girl serving from the last time we came, she wasn't very welcoming, she didn't smile, she seemed a bit stressed from the previous order, when it was my turn to order, she said what do you want which to me was rude, she didn't smile once, even when I said please & thankyou, the other 2 staff were lovely & friendly, it costs nothing to smile even if you are stressed!
