Buyer beware Buyer beware! If my experience over the last 6 months is anything togo by!!!! Please, please do not trust, buy or be taken in by anything the car sales team, manager or alleged owner says. Let me start from the beginning to put you in the picture!. I bought a car from these people Ford Galaxy in silver to help with family who were unable to drive anymore Elderly parents I have two teenagers both 6 foot, and a 7 stone GSD. My wife and I were looking for a suitable large 7 seater, to relive the pressure of carting the above about. We came across the vehicle on Auto Trader which was in budget and fitted our needs. We took a trip to Jonh Harrison lowdham to have a look and test drive, Yes you've heard lots of these stories before! And yes for the 15 minutes on the test drive all was well!!... Left a deposit and arranged a collection day! . On the day of collection I was told to delay my arrival by the sales staff, and I wish at this point I should of just turned around and gone home bare in mind I was travelling for 86 miles away. OK I thought, and decided to get a coffee and wait!. I made my way to them to collect the Galaxy. On collection all the usual stuff, a quick splash of fuel from the dealer at my cost and started the 2h 45 min trip home. More then enough time to get used the the new whip!!. Well as per the discussion with the sales team all the items that were brought to there attention, and should of been picked up on the pre-deliver inspection apparently RAC approved. The tracking was in miss alignment, a TPMS warning light came up on the dash. All within that first hour. I contacted the dealership within 24 hours and told them after getting the alignment done! Of all the issues that had showed up on the journey back. Not a problem they said we will book you in and resolve all the issues. The next day a issues appeared or sound should I say at the rear of the Galaxy, I'm not a mechanic bit it was definitely down to worn rubber bushes and not a metal oriented sound!. Again I told the dealership and they again said that they will have a look and resolve. Brilliant I thought a good garage that acknowledges there responsibility under the Consumer credit act!... oh dear oh dear how wrong was I!. Let me say this yes they did correct the issues with the TPMS by replacing sensors which were completely missing , thought you did a pre-delvery check!. However the issues with the rear of the Galaxy remained! And got progressively worse. Second time back, and a week or so later they said it was down to the rear brakes, and said they have changed them. A couple of Google searches for anyone will show that this is an common issues in Ford's with regard to the lower mount bushes! But hay what do I know!!. After raising the complaint within 30 days with the finance company, it was now time to act!. So let me set the time line for you! September 2023 picked up Galaxy, October, the complaint made to Finance company, February complaint upheld by the finance company after an inspection report from a VAT registered garage, stating what the issues are! You guessed it rubber bushes!!! As well as other issues that also were raised on the inspection. So March 2024 finally the Galaxy is returned. Please please please!!! Avoid this garage I was lucky I had a family that could loan me a car as I had to park the Galaxy up for 3 months while it got returned. And I could still go to work to pay the bills!. Very stressful experience and a strain on general life!!.
John Harrison - the worst car dealership in the country! All of the salesmen are terrible, nasty and ingenious people. I brought a 2.0L VW Scirocco R from John Harrison. The salesman Peter did not make any effort to communicate with me regarding the car. Peter also lied about the car on multiple occasions. He insisted the car had been inspected by RAC and that the RAC had approved it. I later learned that John Harrison actually do the inspection in their garage themselves and because the RAC have approved their garage, they like to claim that the car is inspected by the RAC. Peter also told me that the car would be taken to VW to have the cambelt changed but this was another lie. The cambelt was changed in their incompetent garage. They wouldn’t take a penny off the price and were happy to sell me the car with a fuel light on. I paid a forecourt price for my car and John Harrison only changed two of the tyres. I am now having to pay for two news tyres only two months after purchase. On the day that I brought the car and drove it off the forecourt, the car suddenly exploded and broke down! John Harrison shut their phone lines off before their office actually closes. This meant that I was stranded on the side of the road, 3 hours from home with my new broken down car, and I had no way of contacting the people who had just sold it to me. They took my car back to investigate the problem. They said that the turbo pipe was not screwed on properly by their apparently RAC approved garage and it had then blown off. It was also found that the battery needed replacing - I told Peter when I looked at that battery on the forecourt that it needed replacing, but yet again I was brushed off and lied too. When I test drove the car there was a slight squeak. I was told by Peter that it was nothing to worry about - the brake pads just needed to be embedded. The more I drove the car the more squeaky they become. It was so BAD, I was embarrassed to drive it anywhere as they were so loud. I emailed the dealership and Peter said they could not help me. After persistent phone calls to the dealership to try and resolve the fault, this is where I was introduced to Emily. Emily stated she would help resolve all my issues openly and honestly… and wasn’t I an idiot to believe her. While Peter was terrible mainly through incompetence, Emily is next level. Not only is she incompetent, she is two faced, narcissistic and manipulative. She tries to make you believe she is helping you when actually her mission is to do the complete opposite. She organised a date for me to come to the dealership, stating that the owner would also be there on this day to help. They were now adamant that they believed there was a stone in my brake pad. I work full time as a Paramedic so I called John Harrison many times to confirm this date, including the day before considering I was going to drive 3 hours up the country to their dealership. Not only did Emily let me drive halfway there that morning before calling me and telling me no-one would be there so do not come, she was rude and began insisting that the brakes are not faulty. I went back to the dealership for investigation. There was obviously no stone in my brake pad and I was told the squeaking was due to the poor quality brake pads. Despite removing the old brake pads and discs to investigate why they were squeaking, they then refused to change the brakes to my new ones and they put the old faulty ones back on. Despite me driving 3 hours, she refused to replace my brakes, despite them quite clearly being faulty and stated that I needed to pay.

If there is something wrong with your car, all Emily can and will tell you persistently is that ‘it was in the green when we checked them’. Emily is genuinely one of the worst people I have ever met. Both Peter & Emily are completely incompetent. I personally feel that the owner should fire his whole sales team. They like to talk about their Bosch garage - they should talk about the all botch jobs they do on the cars that they work on!
Worst garage I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.. Got my car from them with the understanding it was an RAC approved used car it was not... Only one key and a chunk out of one tyre both these things fail the RAC approved inspection got it home and the problems started fault on the aircon new condenser fault on the abs new sensor I was called down to the local garage to inspect the underside as they have never seen so much surface rust had to be fully rust proofed the list goes on.. the final fault was the gearbox crunching into second finally got them to inspect it and surprise surprise they could not find a problem still doing it now so after 1 year of owning this car and over £1200 in bills it's almost the car it should have been .... I would avoid the garage like the plague the minute they have your money that's it I would go as far as saying they are living on past glory and would not recommend you use them for anything not even fuel.
Really really nice people. I got into a spot of bother today at the petrol station which is connected to this garage. The manager and lovely lady on the front desk were so incredibly helpful and helped me sort it out. They didn't have to and it was a bit of a pain in the backside for them, but they did and I'm really grateful. Thanks so much.
Don't think it's called John Harrison anymore, car sales and petrol station with in store shopping available, fuel prices just a little high, but the experience was more than exceptable.
Avoid John Harrison at all costs! I’ve been disgustingly conned by their sales executive and have been left so upset & disappointed with the car and the customer service received, and I regret ever engaging with this company. They’ll promise you everything under the sun, and once they have your money, that’s it!! A very amateur, unprofessional, family-run garage that offers nothing more than an abysmal service. I was initially given incorrect information about a car I was looking to purchase. Then conned into making a payment with promises attached that turns out were basically lies. It then took 3 weeks of me chasing for them to register the advertised 3-month RAC warranty which still hasn’t been submitted correctly. Then there was the advertised Full RAC inspection, which I was led to believe would be carried out by the RAC . This was reinforced when I was told, before agreeing to the purchase, that the inspection only gets carried out a couple of days before collection as they try to avoid paying out the cost of the inspection until they have a confirmed sale. When I collected the vehicle, the inspection report was not available, but I was promised it would be emailed over the following working day. 3 weeks later, as I still hadn’t received anything, I emailed & phoned the sales executive who promised that I would be emailed a copy the following working day. Unfortunately, it still didn’t arrive, so as my concerns grew and I noticed a few problems with the car, I contacted the RAC, who confirmed that they had never inspected my vehicle & said the garage has misled you. I immediately contacted the sales executive, who seemed very flustered and changed the story to… oh, the RAC don’t inspect it, we do. You’ve misunderstood! I don’t think so. I have emails that prove otherwise & two other witnesses which heard exactly what I heard. The owner has subsequently claimed that the inspections they carry out are far greater in quality than the ones carried out by the actual RAC. I’m interested to see the RAC‘s take on this. I continued to chase, and after lots of emails and phone calls that just got ignored, I finally received an inspection sheet but noticed that it was dated nearly 2 months before the sale, with a note that it was only valid for one month & with inconsistent mileages across the paperwork. Baring in mind all the issues that have been discovered with the car. If you do choose to look at cars here, I’d recommend organising for your own RAC inspection to be carried out. Also, check all bodywork extensively as it’s been highlighted to me also that it’s been badly resprayed in multiple locations to cover up accident damage. I’ve since been advised by trading standards that I’m legally entitled to a refund. Upon requesting this the sales executive choose to ignore my request so I escalated this to the owner, who just hides away promising to call you back & doesn’t. As previously mentioned, prior to the sale they came across kind & reassuring, but after the payment was made, their true colours showed. It is not unreasonable to treat people with a little more honesty & respect. Especially when you’ve just conned them out of 20K!! Knowing what I know now, we’d have never bought that car. I will now look to escalate this with the RAC, the motor ombudsman and trading standards In the hope that I can help others avoid being conned like I have.
I’m only giving 1 star because I can’t give 0!! We purchased a Motorhome and on the first downpour it flooded through the roof. We are still fighting for a full refund which we are fully entitled to because we are within our 30 days of purchase. The garage have refused to follow their legal obligation. Don’t believe everything they say, avoid at all costs!! Court case pending
Bought my car from here. Great customer service. When left waiting I was offered cups of tea or coffee. It's the little things. All the staff seem to have great morale and all seem to get on great. I'm also very happy with how everything was discussed with me in details. I wasn't pestered to buy. They wanted to make sure the car met my needs. I will definitely be going back when it's time for a new car.
I Waited for a call back all day from Vicky the manager, guess what she didn’t call back. I Was ill informed and now I’m out of pocket because the salemas didnt tell me at point of sale the as advisories on mot were not covered under the platinum rac warranty he just sold to me. The Dealer should have completed repairs before handing me the car or advise me that the repairs won’t be covered on the rac warranty that i was sold for £499. What a con!
I have have been a customer there for 8 years, purchased 2 cars and always had my cars serviced there without any problems, excellent service
