Standing on 5 acres, it’s been in the present family since 1857 and has been developed over the years to a fine standard with a beer garden and facilities which are totally unique.Jack Meades isn’t just a bar serving food & drink – it’s an extensive complex with various facets. The old world bar dates back to c1705, the lime kilns and ice house were built c1860, the grounds have been tastefully developed and are home to ducks, ponies, donkeys & goats. Definitely worth a visit,when passing through! Nice walking area,and delicious food served there,and always a cozy and warm atmosphere! We visited good few times already,every time we are near! Had some nice fish and chips there,mashed potatoes with cabbage,and a very tasty seafood chowder,served with hot soda bread and butter! There is also a small castle on the road,just on the other side of the short tunnel,and other old buildings and ice house,just across the stream.
Good menu choice, half portions and kids menu too. Spacious and airy with plenty of seating inside and outside. Friendly, efficient staff, we were served really quickly and despite the generous portions plates were empty. Very reasonably priced, especially for the area.
Great big area for a get together or party with food. The ribs cabbage and spuds are fabulous. Friendly efficient staff. Great play area for kids and also animals in an adjacent field

For a place i always loved going, I can not believe how bad it has gone. Food is just slapped up and is not even hot .the last 3 times I went there I was disappointed 1st time my husband got a leaf in his cabbage the 2nd time I got a piece of blue wood in my food they tried to tell me it was a chicken bone but I have no idea where they get there chicken but I have never seen a chicken with blue bones and the last time the food was just disgusting
Fabulous food and the staff are outstanding. Will be stopping in the next day I'm passing. Well done to all.
It is a great place all around, good service, the only downsize is the food was not hot enough, a little cold.
Food was absolutely disgusting. Cabbage was boiled to death, as were the carrots mixed with with turnip for pigs revolting chicken must have come from hong Kong via a very long trip gag!!!!!. Gravy was processed. Horrible, horrible place. AVOID for food I had better in hospital, and that's saying a lot!!!!
Not good value any more the owner needs to do his marketing and go to the grandville hotel for Sunday lunch and see how it's served up and the quantity and quality for the money it's not about the numbers it's about the Quality and the numbers will come back it used to be so good there sorry for this review but I used to go there every week sometimes you have to go back in order to go forward.
