We were treated to lunch by some friends who highly recommend The Jack and Jill Inn. The staff were friendly and even reserved a table for us. We all opted for the ploughman's and it was fantastic. We sat outside and the views were stunning. A little hidden gem. Like our friends, we highly recommend this place Thank you
Popped in for some lunch and had a very nice baguette, which was served with a little fresh side salad. We sat in the garden with our grandson, who loved the open space. The staff were very good and informed us that the kitchen was due to close in 10 minutes, but still offered us desserts after we'd finished our baguettes.
Cracking little pub situated in the Sussex hills. With a namesake set of windmills on the hills behind. Small in height and packed full of character with a proper country pub feel. Great staff who were very attentive and friendly approach to it all. Very reasonably priced and one to come back to to enjoy the garden atmosphere. We had use of the sample room/annex behind, I'd say this was a little dated and could do with a refresh as the feel was very motel/conference room. However it serves a purpose. Overall a lovely place with onsite parking, ease of mobility and space to cater for all.
For the last few years we have held our Christmas dinner in the spacious function room at the Jack and Jill Inn at Clayton. This is always an enjoyable occasion. The room was welcoming and beautifully decorated, the food was delicious and the staff provided an excellent service in a very friendly manner. The whole experience, as always, was a joy. We would always recommend this splendid venue to others. Ditchling Players
Good location with parking and easy access to Brighton Food was very good but service for both breakfast 2 days and 1 evening meal was dreadful. Waited 50 mins on the second morning fur breakfast and almost that for our first course of the evening meal. The place was not busy. My family were the only guests on the Monday morning Limited choice on breakfast menu and far too many items unavailable in the evening Our room: Very comfy bed Damp patch and mould above bed Towel rail in bathroom didn't work so bathroom very cold Kettle dangerous. Asked for it to be replaced. It wasn't Toilet seat badly fitted.
I have eaten here before and the food was totally delicious. On this recent visit, I had booked a table in advance. When we arrived a larger party who were due after us, had come early so the two barmaid's were very busy. We waited over 6 minutes before we could get to speak and say we had a table booked. The barmaid's discussed where our table was and one of them said, 'I have set up tables for people who said where they wanted to sit, so they as in us can sit anywhere else. Unfortunately this really was not good and certainly did not leave us feeling valued at all. So our table was not set up, so we could sit on any other empty table even though we had booked. That really is not the way to treat people especially when you hear it said first hand. It made us feel extremely under valued. My friend was not at all happy and sadly we decided not to stay and ate elsewhere.
Took my friend and family here for a birthday lunch weekday.. we all had burgers and chips except the 2 children. When the burgers arrived they were raw and cold and totally uncooked in the middle. We didnt make a fuss but told the landlady? that they were all raw in the middle. She replied that because they were made of REAL meat that's what they were all like!!!! REALLY???? We wont be eating here again and it wasn't cheap either. I would advise everyone who orders burgers to look inside them first before you start to eat. This could have led to serious food poisoning if any of our group ate them. No sorry or apologies from the pub. BEWARE .....
Wouldnt recommend overall. accommodation very poor and needs thorough cleaning. Breakfast food was good but served from 8 to 8.30 only..no chance of a lie in. The pub had an foul smell the night we stayed. Just awful. On a positive note the staff were lovely, helpful and apologetic.
What a lovely pub! Really friendly and helpful, even managed to find us a table when they were fully booked and really busy. Will def be booking next time! Very cosy looking pub with a real fire and some very delicious beers especially the Laffer Curve. Great place for a stop on a hike
Really lovely staff. Very child friendly. They didn't mind my little one walking/ playing around. They also have a little play area outside. Food was good and reasonably priced. Will be our go to place from now on.
