Had our wedding at the Ivy last Saturday, the whole day was fantastic !nFrom start to finish, everything run smoothly and on time. Some would say dated rooms, I'd describe as chic vintage. Large rooms, thick curtains, comfy beds, and nice food. Also had some unique gifts behind glass to purchase, excellent idea.nThere are lots of welsh items here to buy. Bring a Mamgu myself I did purchase a little treat to put away for my birthday.
Stayed at the hotel with my husband for two nights. Rooms seemed a lot more dated than the images on the website. Staff on the reception desk were really pleasant, which is a lot more than can be said for one of the ladies clearing the dishes during breakfast. We stood waiting, unsure whether we needed to wait to be told where to sit and when we saw her and asked her, she just mumbled that we could sit anywhere. We weren’t asked if we’d been there before, shown where anything was or offered tea or coffee, however, there was a nice young male that brought tea/coffee when my husband approached him on both mornings. I’ve given 4 stars for the pleasant staff, however, I would only give the lady with the ponytail one as I saw her scowl at people leaving the breakfast table. Location was good as it is a short walk to the shops.
Don't stay! Room was tiny, bed had springs sticking through, very very uncomfortable Curtains didn't close but more alarmingly the window with not shut properly and it lead out onto a flat roof. Bathroom curtains did not close so felt exposed to the whole street Didn't feel safe.nI was running an event at the hotel - shambolic. First told me there was not a room booked then put us in a very small room that would have barely fitted us in Luckily the speeding awareness trainers in the room next door asked me to swap as they had a large room setup just like I asked how strange and they wanted a small room. No biscuits with coffee. Tea was in the coffee container and coffee was in the tea containers! Lunch was fine but had to chase it up. No power for the projector so we had to get a long extension lead. Digital projector was very old and grainy and projected very little colour. No htmi cable. Flip chart stand broken. Staff were ok but not particularly helpful. To sum it up don't use it!!
The Ivy Bush Hotel were very lucky to have great staff. Those that were working were very conscientious considering the shortage of staff. We were a party of five and enjoyed lunch. Our friend stayed overnight in a suite of rooms and we enjoyed a glass of prosecco before saying our farewells. I think hospitality have had a very hard time during the recession and staff shortages must make life difficult for the hard working staff. They have my sympathy.
