​Ipswich has the bones of a great town. We have the history and the people; now we need the investment and the collective will to make our town centre a place that reflects the vibrant community living within it.nnThe goal for Ipswich should be simple: to be a place where everyone feels safe, welcome, and proud to live.
I have used Ipswich station regularly for travel to Cambridge. I have found it to be a very nice station to use. It is fairly straight-forward to get to, has clear signage, is rarely overcrowded, and has a good waiting room with shops and amenities. It also helps that the Greater Anglia service between Ipswich and Cambridge is usually on-the-dot on time.
Yet again Ipswich Railway Station and Greater Anglia prove their lack of care or capability to organise rail replacement buses. Greater Anglia scanned all the tickets at the gate and on the trains, yet no one at Ipswich has any information about how many people wanted to get to Diss and onwards to Norwich. Two buses waiting for a train load of people. Utter ineptitude and lack of care. The three staff trying to sort the problem have absolutely no information. The photo is all the people who couldn't get onto the buses the 1st time and are now waiting for buses unknown, knowing they'll miss the connection in Diss. What a mess. The worst thing is no one waiting is surprised by the ineptitude!
Friendly staff, good management of football crowds on match day. Plenty of seating, plenty of food and drink options.nClean platforms and waiting areas.nGood signage.
Ipswich Railway Station is one of those classic looking British Railway Stations rooted in Victorian Architecture. It has some useful connections to London, Cambridge, Norwich and Lowestoft and is fairly busy and easy to navigate.nnI have been using the trains to get to and from Heathrow and have found it a lot more relaxing than driving. And, strangely, I usually buy my tickets at the counter at the station and these have always been cheaper than the deals that I can get online. The trains have all had seats available and have been fast, clean and comfortable.
