I nipped in today to get a pedicure, although very busy the staff were friendly and happy. I asked Rose would she be able to fit me in for acrylic nails  (although I advise to definitely book in advance) rose managed to fit me in. I’m not kidding, I bit my nails and when I walked in, they were non existent! When I walked out, I felt amazing! My nails (toes and hands) look absolutely amazing!! I’m so so happy and will definitely be going back! Thanks to Rose and I think

Im new to the area and saw this place had good reviews. I didn’t have an appointment and they fitted me in. Make an appointment if you visit this place, it seems most people do.

I always find the silence awkward when visiting the hairdresser/getting nails done etc. I tried to strike up conversation with the nail tech by asking if she was speaking Vietnamese to the other worker. The workers are clearly from the Manc area but would speak to each other in their preferred lanaguge. I took a guess that they were speaking Vietnamese. My mistake, nail tech took offense to this question. I apologize only because she was offended, not because I think I said anything offensive. 

I wanted to break the silence and perhaps talk about Vietnam as ive travelled extensively around SE Asia and love Asian food. The nail tech was speaking a Chinese dialect, not Vietnamese, so stupid me. Made the rest of the visit really uncomfortable for me, I hate confrontation and I won’t return. 

Review of the nails - had a dry mani and pedi. Didn’t use e file on my nails which is good. Polish looks good despite being one of the harder OPI colours to use, other people’s polish looked nice as well. However I’m a bit confused as to why my nails (and other person) were left under the UV light for a long time. I’ve always had my nails done with CND/OPI, curing takes 30-60 seconds, I was in for a lot longer then that. Was getting a little hot and there is a risk of skin cancer using these lamps. I’m comfortable using the lamps for a few minutes, but not for an extended period of time. 

Shame the stars didnt align because my nails were done quick and to a high standard.

There is a higher percentage of Vietnamese nail techs worldwide, so it’s innocuous to think when two ladies of SE Asian decent are speaking a different language in front of you, and work in a nail bar, they are most likely Vietnamese. To elicit conversation for people you ask questions, that was what I did. I didn’t need a rude and aggressive reply, and when I tried to make things right she was sarcastic and bitter. 

Has the nail tech who I believe is your daughter say “I was speaking Cantonese”, I would have corrected my mistake and we both would have got on with our days.

Everyone has assumptions made about them, the nail tech isn’t special. You are in a business setting, people are going to say things you don’t like, and it wasn’t malicious in intent or delivery, learn how to deal with conflict it a professional and sensitive matter. She’s not me and I’m not her, we don’t know each other’s lives until we share information. She made assumptions about my thinking that weren’t true and shut me down.

With regards to your statement that I wouldn’t say the same thing to your other members of staff... how likely is it that one of your Indian or African ladies would be speaking English to the customer and then speak to you in a different language to you? Not bloody likely! And if that was the case you can be sure that more questions would be asked! 

I won’t go into the stereotype that SE asian nail techs have about speaking their own language in front of English speaking customers. That wasn’t the issue here but perhaps you should take it into consideration.

Canadians always get mistaken for Americans, kiwis and Australians, Irish for Scottish etc. and they are all speaking English! The same applies for people who speak English as a second language and are white. Stereotypes about their language, culture and behavior are made. 

Your response that I wouldn’t propose the same question to other members of staff isn’t a fair comparison and it shows how you feel about the situation. I was really upset that day so it comes across better via text. The nail tech wasn’t polite, it was an awkward situation that I felt could have been handled better.  

With regards to the lamps, LED lamps cure the coats quicker than UV, yet my hands were in the LED lamp for much longer then expected. You even left in a woman’s hand whilst you did a brow wax?!?!?Too long hun.

Terrible service, asked for indiviual lashes but was given cluster which looked fab when first done but with the nature of cluster lashes they left huge gaps after just 5 days becuase where a lash falls out a full chunk of them. When I explained i had been given the wrong ones and asked for a refund I was denied my money back. on their website cluster costs £15 and individual costs £45. I was charged 45. Do not use this place for your eyelashes ladies they wont last and you'll be left with patches just so they can save money. Rip off merchents.
