Took my bike for a puncture repair. The valve was too short on the inner tube they fitted. My standing pump wouldn’t go far enough over it. I called and explained, the guy I spoke to over the phone was nice and said it would be sorted. When I arrived it was a different guy (the one who did the puncture repair). He just said 'I've used valves shorter than that before', plugged it into the pump they had in the shop and said 'done'. Later tried to pump it up using a different standing pump at my office, where it simply let all the air out but still couldn't go over the valve enough to pump up. So I then had to get public transport twice more and buy a new inner tube on top of having paid for that botched repair and a lot of wasted time - for a puncture! This is before I mention that in the first instance they didn't give the security key for the skewers back with my bike, and generally were rude - jibes about me having 'the dirtiest bike in the world' etc (it isn't). Not going back.

DO NOT TRUST I went in to the shop around 1pm on a Monday - as the phone was not answered even after 10 attempts. I was left for a few bewildering minutes looking for someone to help/ greet me. After waiting patiently I decided to speak to the closest member of staff who was stood behind the coffee machine. The shop was relatively quiet and not busy at all. I asked if my wheels could be trued, how much it would cost and how long it would take. I genuinely thought it was something they could do on the spot as they looked unoccupied but to my surprise the staff said: “we are extremely busy, you’ll have to book it in.” I booked a slot for Tuesday, the staff member told me it would be done by tomorrow (Wednesday) or Thursday latest. I was happy with that and booked myself in. I asked the staff how he wanted me to bring the wheel: off the bike? Remove the tires? Etc I made it clear that I wanted the tires checked. I told him: “It could possibly be the tires that make the wheel wobbly but I want the wheels trued as I just bought the bike 2nd hand” The staff member said: “ bring it in wheel remove the tires and tell you if you need new ones.” I was happy with that and returned with the wheels Tuesday. I called upon Wednesday to find out if they had finished and no one answered the phone so I left it till Thursday we’re I arrived at approximately 10.30pm under the impression that the HB would be done “Thursday the latest” ( as told by the staff member). On arrival I spoke to a different member of staff who told me that I would need to come back in a hour because they were not done. I was furious and told this man the situation but he had no clue and there was no note on the system. Frustrated, time wasted, along with petrol for the trips back and forth I was now very impatient. I returned the shop and took the wheels home to find the tires had not been checked and the wheel was not true (it was buckled). I was totally gob snacked to find the wheels were not true and the tries had not been checked! I immediately returned to the shop to show them and their mechanic play with the wheel for another 30 minutes. The wheels were finally true. I don’t think they even attempted to true my wheels. DO NOT TRUST

Formerly 5-stars: 1st visit "6 stars today. A very swift inner tube purchase, but the guy is sound. Vibes" Second encounter "Not so cool: went in to get some water to drink (was on the table). Before I got to the table, I was asked if he could help. I said 'yes, I've got a new bike, needs some bits..' he said best to bring the bike in. Ignoring my thirst, I left, crossing HV off my list of potential bike accessory suppliers, costing them up to £200 in lost custom. Was it really not obvious I just wanted a drink today???!!!!" --

Helpful, accommodating, friendly and they know their stuff. Bought GPS, brake pads etc, sought advice and serviced/fixed up my bike. My default bike shop, worth the extra travel, passing others, for it

Great, good value service, with friendly informed and informative staff. From what I’ve seen, some great stock as well. Definitive LBS. Now to get over the fear and join them for the group ride...
