What a lovely little find, a beautiful old fallen house. The views are amazing even on a rainy cold British day, excellent for families, digs, picnics, exploring, learning, photography and just sitting and letting the world go by. There is a 5/10 min walk to get to it, there’s no toilets, coffee shop or anything else which is what I loved about it. I would say it’s no good food wheelchairs or prams. I will definitely go back on a sunny 😎 day.

Open ruins of Houghton House. A couple of information plaques are provided with more history of the building dotted around the site. A space for parking cars is a short walk from the gate to the site, which leads to a straight picturesque path leading down to the ruins. The house is at the top of a hill so has pleasant views for a good distance.

The ruins of the house are only going to occupy you for 10 to 20 minutes at most but it's a lovely area for a walk, with spectacular views and there's a car park nearby so plan a walk (there is a circular 6 mile walk available to download from Bedfordshire council's website) and pop in to see the house ruins on your way back to the car, or even stop for a picnic lunch and admire the vista. As of the moment (March 2018), the countryside is rather muddy so wear walking boots or wait for better weather.

Great place for a walk during Autumn. Situated on a hill providing beautiful landscapes during good sunny weather. There is free of charge parking yet very small. The entrance itself is not very visible so you may want to slow down on that sharp bend otherwise you will miss it.

No wonder they built it here. The views are superb. Well worth a visit.
