Basic hotel is what you need for a good night's sleep. I paid £35 for a Friday night for a single person and got a twin room on the bottom floor where my car is parked right outside in front of the door. There isn't a hairdryer in the room which they use to have many moons ago, but the heat in the room, dries it anyway after a while. There's no spoons for your hot drinks, only wooden sticks and I couldn't eat my pot noodles with a stick so it was dumped in the bin. Very comfy beds. Telly very easy to work and figure out. Bath a bit small and I'm 5ft 5" I didn't know you could wind the green metal shield down like a shop blind (where the handle is in the room, I don't know). Next door had there's down outside to stop the housekeeping coming in, as I was woken up 3 times by them even though I had the curtains shut. Will go here again as it suits me down to the ground.

first time visiting couldnt get booked in anywhere as it was Aintree weekend . clean sheets, very hot water, tea and coffee facilities in room, plus TV . very old fashioned could do with up grade on all furniture fittings bathroom ect , inndoor doesnt shut. would say its ok for 2 night stay over like we did . No where to go in area on night except weatherspoons 10min walk other than that train very close by 20min or less to Liverpool Central . Would I stay here again Not sure Possibly if needed . pleasant staff in reception / dining bar area .

Let's get something straight from the start. Ignore the bad reviews. This is budget accommodation, and yes the decor is very 70's (I think the term is retro now) so anyone wanting even a hint of luxury can stop looking now. What do you expect for just over £30 a night when there are people charging over twice this amount for a draughty yurt in the corner of a muddy field? I can tell you what you will get. You will get a warm welcome from friendly staff, a secure warm room with a bed, WiFi (£6 for 3 nights or free if you book through the Camponile website), a TV and a bathroom, that keeps out the wind and the rain. The room was clean when we arrived, and was kept so by our housekeeper Karin during the three nights we stayed. Tell me, what more do you need? Next door is a restaurant that serves a variety of more than agreeable food at reasonable prices. Runcorn station is only 3 mins walk, and an off peak return ticket to Liverpool can be had for less than £7. So you don't even need to take the car. So if you want luxury, then yes go stay in Liverpool City Centre at over £100 per night.
