Went here for a drum and bass event. Botanica Zoo takeover. The security personnel were professional and friendly, they were looking out for the patrons and not hindering the overall atmosphere. I felt safe to have a good time as a solo female, drinking, dancing and generally having a good time. It makes a change to meet security who use their common sense, experience and don't put us all into the same category as drunk girl or boy! With excellent customer service from the cloakroom attendant who was an absolute sweetheart nnSo, I actually went here for the music that was being played and I had a great time. The bar staff were on point and friendly, I also had my phone handed in after leaving it in the ladies which I'm extremely grateful for. However the clientele were younger, drunk and didn't appear to be there for the music, especially for the night that was being put on. It was difficult to dance as most people on the dance floor were standing around chatting and i need space!!nThe venue is near to some major transport links, with brixton train station, and Brixton tube station acessing the Victoria line as well as being on a night bus route. I would go again but probably not pay for entry. Still I had a good night and got home in 1 piece!
If Carlsberg did hostels....my only complaint is I only stayed for 1 nite.Toilets etc clean & well stocked.nFantastic location, adjacent to Sainsbury's.nA stones throw from the bus stop.Food galore, kettle tea coffe herbal tea sugar milk etc.,& well arranged cooking facilities upon arrival you could easily prep a banquet. Some residents offered me some food.As it was different cuisine to my usual.I decided & settled on a pot noodle I bought in Sainsbury's.nVery easy to understand the hostels system from codes to keys.lovely Italian girl checked me in & even carried my case, upsyairs the place is a tiny maze!!Albeit manageable!!Individual lockers at no extra cost.nThe furniture in TV lounge being homely, like 1 of the 3 larger than life couch/sofa has a Homer Simpsonesque groove!!which for me It's appreciated.Home from home.nAlso nice eclectic mix of ppl staying there both short & long term.if I'm ever in the UK again I would travel to stay here.nPS had a great sleep bed warm & cosy.
Room ok, very friendly and helpful staff. Toilets the big issue, filthy most of the time, residents are not careful at all, wee and waste paper everywhere, also sinks are only in the showers and hand soap dispensers most of them not working. Beds comfy. Lovely lounge. Free breakfast until 11 is a great plus. Location good, with good transport very close to hostel. Fair value for money.
What an incredible venue! The sound system is top-notch, and the atmosphere on Saturday night was absolutely electric. We were invited by one of the artists performing, and this was our first time visiting. I’m so pleased we went — the DJs were phenomenal and really gave it their all.nnHowever, our experience on arrival left a lot to be desired. When we got to the entrance around 11.00 p.m., the young man in the kiosk asked for ID. Fair enough — we completely understand the need for this. We hadn’t been out in a while and had forgotten to bring physical ID, so my partner politely asked if it would be acceptable to show it on our phones. Unfortunately, the staff member’s response was unnecessarily rude and dismissive. He spoke over my partner, rolled his eyes, and said, “Can’t she speak for herself?”nnI understand that working in the cold at a kiosk isn’t easy, but as the first point of contact for such a fantastic venue, his attitude was really disappointing. He seemed impatient, unhappy in his role, and completely lacking in warmth or enthusiasm — qualities that are essential in customer service.nnWe’re older and more experienced than many of the younger revellers there, so we brushed it off, but had this been someone younger or less patient, it could have easily escalated into a bigger issue. It’s worth noting for management that this staff member might be better suited to a behind-the-scenes role rather than front-of-house, where first impressions are so important.nnOverall, the night itself was amazing, but I do feel that this encounter cast a shadow on the start of our evening. As paying customers, being greeted with basic courtesy shouldn’t be too much to ask..
Pub with large music room. A 15 minute walk from Brixton tube but once there it's all rather wonderful. Large area outside with lots of seating and a hut from which you can order pizza and the one I had was very good.nnThe main bar area has a pool table plus plenty of seating and a large and well stocked bar. The service was quick and the staff very pleasant.nnThe separate music room has good lighting and sound though the smoke machine was a bit over the top. The stage is high so if you at the back you still get a good view. There are some seats for those who don't want to stand. The bar in the music room is fully stocked and the beers are on draught too.nnI've knocked one star off as though there are loos in both the main area and the music room there was no soap in both of them
