Recently enjoyed a fun taster session at the velodrome. It was my first time so had to get used to cycling a bike with no gears or brakes. Not super straight forward unless you’re confident in a bike. The coaches were fun and thorough and I learnt a lot in the session. I’d recommend this for a nice weekend activity
Had an exceptional day trying out electric assistance bicyclesnThe velodrome is clean, clear and very well kept. There are toilets that were clean and had toilet paper and hand towels.nThere was a tea hut that had pastries and toasted sandwiches.
OK, of course I am biased. My son races here in Track League every Wednesday, but hey, it's the best mid week wind down on the planet, especially when the sun is shining. Beer, pizza and a storming veggie chilli remember to add salt and two wheeled thrills & the occasional spill! Seriously, what's not to like. Fun starts at 7.00 and completely free. You'd be mad to miss it.
Fantastic place - very friendly and open to new joiner.nnThere is required induction, which is low cost and very well organizednnThere is a cafe and the new is pavilion is lovely.nnLots of bikes to.hire - the bikes are free for the induction.nnThe website is well laid out and tells you what you need to know.nnAll in all a friendly and open venue encouraging all level.
Best community and competition venue, just a wee bit far from Newcastle upon Tyne! We will be back though
