We stayed in hawkerland edge, one of the cottages they advertise. On arrival at the accommodation we were told building work was to go ahead all week. Owners refused to compromise on this. It meant that builders were working at the house from 8-6 on 4 days of the holiday destroying our privacy. Also making the garden inaccessible. Hawkerland Edge was badly maintained and there were 2 leaks during our stay that reduced 12 guests to 1 shower. Worst of all? Despite apologising at the time, after we left the owners falsely claimed that we had caused the leaks and quoted damage that neatly offset the compensation they had offered for the building work. Holiday cottages have a guest help line but they failed totally to help us. It was easy to see that the helpline is a marketing tool rather than a service to customers; our experience was that holidaycottages represent the owners and not the guests.
