When visiting the Holiday Inn for a training event, we found that the place was kept really clean and tidy. The staff were incredibly hospitable. The food quality for the main meals was excellent, with super flavours high above the expected standard. Refreshments provided were super as well. And all the stuff seems to be willing to go above and beyond to help with even the smallest detail.

The rooms were nice, and as you would expect. The addition of the steam room in the health spa was good. In the room there was a card saying that if you had forgotten an item, toothbrush, conditioner etc, that if you ask at reception they would provide you with the appropriate bits. I forgot conditioner and asked and the girl at reception said that they didn't have any. This was irritating seeing as it clearly stated that they had items available. Breakfast was good, however the addition of gluten free sausage options would have been nice.

I have stayed here twice. First time round my room was excellent, and I was on my own. Recently, I booked a room with 2 beds. On arrival I found out I had been given a free room upgrade for being a member. However, this room smelt badly of smoke and didn't have two beds. Instead of giving me another room with two doubles beds, I was moved to a twin room that sadly, wasn't in great condition. I am sure there were other rooms available that I could have been moved to. Having said that, it was a complimentary upgrade so I shouldn't complain too much. During both stays I have had good breakfast, staff have been pleasant, and it is a 5 minute walk to all the restaurants in the centre. Gym is average, but did the job for a couple of short workouts to tide me over.

Lively and lovely hotel. Close to everything and absolutely first rate staff. Best in town to be sure.

I can't speak to the rooms here as we only go to take my daughter swimming. It has a small pool and gym, with a little steam room and sauna. The pool and changing rooms needquite a lot of work done- cold shower, freezing aircon, broken baby table and hair dryers that have been out of action for months. However; there are signs some things are being done. The hotels location is great though; you are close enough to be central but not on top of everything if you want a quieter night. Good for weekly commuters.
