Great way to spend an afternoon or morning! The kids can run around in the grassy areas, play football soccer for the Americans, then go splash in the water works playground next door, or take a dip in the pool with lifeguards this one you have to pay for, and finally stroll around the pond and lake with ducks, delicious blackberries, and really old Redwoods.
One of my favourites! The lake looks great, with ducks gliding over.
I knew Hinksey park as a teenager. I’d played football on its lovely flat grassy pitch. I’d even refereed a football match on the pitch! When I’d visited Hinksey Park again recently I remembered the fantastic row of giant redwoods by the tennis courts. They’re so splendid I couldn’t resist taking some photos of them. I’d forgotten about or, in the past, never even noticed that besides this row of redwoods there were also a couple of them standing by themselves close to the Devil’s Backbone footpath. Once again, I couldn’t resist taking some photos of them which lured me back to the row of redwoods by the tennis courts. I took some more photo of them from the other side of the lake than was the case with the first lot of photos. The ducks are so tame they completely ignored me taking photos.
Fantastic place for a great day out with family, friends and more. It has lake, pond with wildlife bring porridge oats to feed geese and ducks!, open park to kick ball about, children’s playground with sand and slides and best of all a splash park and separate outdoor heated swimming pool. Transport links are perfect, good cycling routes, bus routes and a small car park with reasonable parking charges.
Nice well kept park. My interest is that the BSAC diving club I belong to is situated there. Open Wednesday and Friday evenings: pop in if you want to learn how to scuba dive.
Quiet place in nature, nice walks, no toilets.
Children's playground, tennis courts, and two lakes with plenty of wildlife. Heated outdoor swimming pool requires advanced booking. Walking traill leads across a bridge over railway lines into south hinksey village, about 15min leisurely walk from the tennis courts. Biking trails lead to neighboring streets and River Thames.
Beautiful park with lots of squirrels. Lots of dog walkers come here.
Really nice outdoor swimming pool to play in,water was nice&warm and they've added some floats this year which was good.Kids enjoyed walking around the duck pond&feeding the ducks then it has a nice play park as well with plenty of things to play on.Lovely day out.
Nice Park feed the ducks play with your kids nice lake go swimming something for everyone
