I recently went to take my nephew to Hickory Dickory’s Playhouse. The drive was nice & about 15-20minutes from where I live. Looks like you’re entering an industrial area but as you turn in you can see the play centre. Ample parking for cars & bigger parties of guests. I was actually surprised at the size of the place it was huge, so much space. The playhouse was lovely. Extremely quiet during the day which was absolutely fantastic as my nephew is 17months. Which means he is 1 years & 7 months. He played in the under 2s section which had clear signs for age appropriate play. Had the basic sensory play which you can’t go wrong with. It was nice & calm. They have clear signs displaying that children need to be supervised by adults that are accompanying them. Which is great information as sometimes it’s needed. Overall I think playhouses/ centres are great but it always depends on demand. If it is extremely busy it can be a sensory overload where having play time & then going to rest or have a snack or leave can be very difficult. They have high chairs for little ones, which is helpful & they have snack options at the canteen area. Personally I wasn’t a fan of the sandwiches, jam specifically. But everything else was fine. I did not end up using the baby changing area so therefore I cannot comment as of yet. We went at a quieter time so we had the play centre pretty much to ourselves. Decently priced for entry. Receptionist seemed nice & upon exit the staff we met was kind. I’ve seen some mixed reviews on staff, but from our first time experience it was normal. I will be going again, very soon & will have an update on my experience going with a larger group. We went on a Sunday, just after lunch time. Around 1:30pm started until 3:15pm.
A large group of us came with children of varying ages babies - 7yrs and all the children had a great time. Parking close to the entrance with ample spaces or alternatives close by. There was enough seating and table spaces. We did not eat the food, but ordered drinks which were fine. A few members of staff were around, one was hoovering and tidying up tables promptly as people were leaving. We would probably visit again.
First time taking my baby to a soft play, he became very overwhelmed with it and had to leave after 20 minutes. I’d paid £8 to go in on statutory maternity pay so it’s not cheap! I asked the supervisor if I could get a credit note or a half price voucher - anything to come back again for another visit given the little time we’d spent there. She said no because it’s our choice to leave!!! I appreciate it was our choice to leave but what am I supposed to do - stay with my baby who’s distressed? Would have been a nice offer as a goodwill gesture or decent customer service to encourage another visit. I can safely say I’ll never be returning or recommending them to anyone else either. You think they’d support young mums - not be so abrupt. Disgusting!
This playhouse was great for our 16 month old boy. They have a wide variety of soft play ranging from babies to bigger kids. The different aged group soft play are also in different areas so we didn't feel the need to constantly worry about older kids running around our little boy. Food & drink from the cafe is reasonably priced but be aware they only accept card payments. There are limited tables and chairs available which some as a first come first serve basis. People do tend to place their belongings on the chairs then go into the soft play to 'reserve' the seating which can be frustrating. I highly recommend booking in advance. We booked online and when we arrived we were able to skip a queue of around 7-10 people who were having to wait for people to leave as they were paying at the door. The car park is small for the amount of people the centre can hold but we did notice some cars were parked on the street just outside of the car park in case you're struggling to find parking in the centre.
Nice welcome from girl on door, then nothing for 20 minutes. Asked for menus ourselves. Small portions and high prices. Kids enjoyed it. Music just too loud and couldn't talk. Shame really. Could be great. Most staff helpful, some not.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
It's a nice place but I do feel there wasnt enough equipment for under 2 and the staff were awful. Barely cracked a smile or even acknowledge my child. It was clean and didn't smell like a lot of other soft play centres. I would return as my 10 month old did enjoy it
Hiya, awful customer service! Staff are very rude. Charged me £5.50 for a hot chocolate ready made and cream. Absolute rip off. Staff were back chatting when questioned on the prices of everything. Didn’t even give us our full time, only gave us an hour and 15 when a 2 hour session was paid for. Will be in contact with management.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Was a little wary after reading some of the reviews, but didn't find any problems. It's not huge, but definitely adequate, all areas were clean and being regularly cleaned throughout, there's a cafe / restaurant as always. Carpark was adequate with alternatives available at busy times. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would visit again.
We visited without booking and turned up on a weekday after 3.30pm as it was opening and found the staff to be attentive, environment and soft play clean and working order. The cafe was good value, too. Deceptively spacious soft play area and ample sitting area for adults. Toilets, tables, high chairs were spotless too.
Dated worn out and in need of an update. Clean but very expensive for what you get. Plenty of more up to date soft-plays out there. I think the photo sums it up. That been said the staff were friendly and the cafe was a good value.
