My favourite campsite in the UK by a mile! Friendly staff, clean facilities, amazing surroundings and just a 15 minute walk to beautiful Swanage. The beaches in this area are the best on the south coast. To top it off, we were lucky enough to have this moon on Friday night
Really lovely space the staff are super friendly at the reception, shop and bar and the carvery on a Sunday is really tasty just make sure you book as it gets busy! This place seems to be at the heart of the community all the locals are familiar with it and many speak highly of the carvery and Christmas shop. The location of the campsite is ideal, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere which is so peaceful but the town centre and beach is only a 30 min walk away. The steam train Herston Halt stop is also only a 10 min walk and goes up to Corfe and Norden.
Lovely site with electric hook up and good shower/toilet facilities. Lively bar which we didn't go to. Would stay again. Very well signposted. Shepherds huts still under construction.
I can't recommend this campsite enough, everything about our holiday was catered for, friendly staff, clean toilets and showers, stunning views 10/10 will definitely be returning next summer
Only reason It got 2 stars not 1 is because it is a short walk to swanage.. The facilities are frankly disgusting and far from clean. Im now at site in the new forest that is cheaper and 100% clean with awards won for cleanliness. The herston caravan park clearly has permanent residents that dont look after the appearance of their homes... This lets the park down for holiday makers. Its really not worth the money when compared to any other site i have stayed at... If it was clean and mould free i would give 4 stars
Hello to all campers and vans I and my brother we stopped off here for a week Bob &Tony we are known we stopped in the wigwam tent you get electric in your wigwam tent good comfortable beds plenty of space to move around wood to light a fire outside your own picnic bench to sit down and eat your food and drink scenic route across all the landscape also you can see the steam train and ear the whistle blowing as it goes through the countryside chuckling away we even see too young deer's in the early morning eating away the toilet facilities are excellent clean plenty of them to shower toilet hand basins plenty of toilet roll good food at the site good entertainment in the evening bar included I lovely campsite out of the way of all the hustle and bustle a wonderful place very friendly people look forward to going back again next year
Great level pitch and good location but the most disgusting toilets and showers we’ve ever seen on a campsite. Toilets on the camping pitch weren’t cleaned the whole weekend and neither were the showers near reception. The same clumps of hair, dust and hair bands were there all weekend. Relieved to get home for a shower! Plus so many camp fires at a time when fires we’re supposed to be banned due to drought. Please appreciate that not everyone likes being smoked out every evening!
People nice enough. Location good, can walk into Swanage. Pitches were not very level and fields very bumpy and sloping. Reception area a bit of a mess with files and parcels and bike strewn everywhere. Told to go on a pitch but when we got there it was already taken by someone who had reported to Reception where he was staying. It was towards the end of season so they may be winding down but hard standing pitches were not that well kept, grass long and edges not shaped so looked a bit of a mess. On the last day the toilets were a mess but not necessarily the campsites fault but messy inconsiderate campers who think it's OK to leave their tissue all over the floor and not flush or brush the toilet after they have used it. No working light by dishwashing area so can't do washing up in evening and there were no draining boards. Showers fairly big with family bathrooms too. We would go back but think with just a few small changes this campsite could look a whole lot better
This is difficult as the bell tents are 4/5 star basic but lovely and spacious. However toilets and showers... are not cleaned very often or if they are our ones when we stayed were missed the entire time we were there. The food van was average but seemed to run out of food very quickly but I guess it can be hard to cater for the unknown.
Great place came for two nights and booked two more, staff lovely and helpful Booking for next year. They are working on improving the camp. Amazing for the children gives them outside freedom, love the evenings with the pit_fire And the quite morning just the birds..was disappointed no restaurant. The only place to eat was from a van but was closed Little camp shop was amazing for prices who eve owns this camp really puts family first with the prices .Great value for families..
