A hidden gem, the gallery offers mostly free access to a wide range of exhibitions. It runs a changing schedule of exhibitions throughout the year, so we'll worth taking a look at their website to see what's on. There's also an on site shop and cafe.

The gallery is within a short walk of the old and new cathedrals, so very easy to combine the two as part of a day out.

We were looking for dry things to do with our children, so we gave the Herbert Art Gallery a go. Very good choice. We all loved it from the displays in the museum, things from our youth and also our children trying out a dial phone up to the art gallery with its mix of old abd new. It was also good to be able to leave our belongings in a secure locker, which was free of charge. We had a drink and cake in the cafe as well. I have no problem with recommending the Herbert Art Gallery. And to top it all, entry was free.

Really enjoyed our trip around the art museum. My daughter loved the statues and the hands on exhibits. We went on a Saturday morning and there was an arts fair down stairs too with some more hands on art things which were really good. Staff were helpful. The toilets upstairs were very nice, also nice they are contained in a cubicle (the toilet, each basin and hand dryer all in one cubicle) meant it says much easier with a child in tow.

Activities for the grandchildren during school holidays. Enjoyed the exhibitions and a lovely little cafe and shop. Staff Friendly and helpful

A good place to take children especially if it's too cold and wet. Statues and all the art  are very good. Then stop for a nice coffee and buy a souvenir  in the gift shop. A lot of choice
