It's so lovely to see this reopening after such a long time. It's always worth a visit. Interesting exhibits and fantastic to see the portraits by the Portrait Artist of the Year 2020. The Vivienne portrait took me by surprise, and after the recent tragic news, I found it very moving.
A beautiful building, with friendly staff and a fine shop and really charming tea room. The exhibits - especially on Birmingham’s culture and history and the main round room - were really good. It didn’t feel like it was fully open though so I hope more of the museum and gallery will be unveiled in time.
Visited to view the Wildlife Photography of the year exhibit. Very interesting & well laid out. Enjoyable couple of hours viewing some amazing photos & finding out interesting information surrounding them. The museum is a great place to visit while in Birmingham. Highly recommended.
Had gone for the Wildlife photographer exhibition and ended up visiting the entire museum as it was so appealing and well done.nnFree exhibitions all over with various themes one on the city of Birmingham, one on drawings, etc.nnShop has a very nice selection of both arts and crafts, local art and museum souvenirs.nnTea room available for a bite very crowded with families on the weekend
This was strange find. We stumbled on it by accident. A beautiful building inside and out, it's a history of the city and it's different cultures. I guess it's hard to sum up Birmingham with its rich tapestry of cultures and history. It was ok. Read about various historical figures and there are a number of large displays. It would have been nice to have taken a more historical approach, explaining the formation of the city whilst still sharing more recent history. It's free, the building is beautiful and you will learn a little more. There is one big plus, and that's the lovely coffee shop inside!
