The shop itself is undeniably well stocked with a vast range of used books and classical CDs, all at very fair prices. However, the owner likes the sound of his own voice too much: he is constantly twittering away to various local acolytes who come in to hang around, talk to him and get in customers’ way. If you like to browse in peace and quiet, this is not the place for you! What’s worse, his musings are frequently on very contentious topics often political in nature and his opinions are highly prejudiced. In particular, he seems obsessed with Jews and Israel, on which topic his views are heavily larded with ill-digested prejudices, old long-debunked theories and frankly antisemitic innuendo. If you’re after used books in Liverpool, there is a much calmer and safer environment in a shop halfway up Mount Pleasant - Reid’s Books, I think it’s called. But this place should not be supported due to the unpleasantness of the owner.
Great book shop. Vast range of second hand and vintage books. I have found some true gems in this place. Good range of vinyl/CD's as well particularly classical music. The owner is a true literary gentleman.
If you are looking for old classics it’s your place to go , You need to spend a lot if time there to find stuff but is treasure!! Enjoy browsing the old books highly recommended!
A gem of a bookshop, old fashioned and bristling with books. Large sections on history, politics and local geography. I found 3 science fiction books which I have desired for years and they were just sat there waiting for me. Prices were very good and I paid on average £4 per hardback book. Give it a go and visit soon, chances are you will be glad you did.
Many and arranged mainly old books on two floors. Quite a few cds. The owner and people working are interesting and helpful. New books coming in, sometimes tons of books and magazines, so you may want to check every now and then. Fair prices. Best second-hand book shop of its kind in town.
Visited this place when visiting the UK last year. Brilliant store and awesome prices! 10/10
A broad selection of second hand books from local history to classic and modern fiction, also has a wide range of classical CDs. Well worth a visit. Owners enthusiastic about authors and music.
Lovely bookshop piled high with books. The owners obviously have a passion for literature. You can find a bit of everything, but they excel at literary classics.
This shop sells old second hand books, and its got that old worldly feel about it. The books there cover a wide range of subject matter. I could spend hours there.
I loved the place, the smell of old books, the store, I came here to look for some alternative medicine books and I found gold. I originally came here for just a quick look and ended up spending almost 1 hour just getting lost in there and so immersed in the store. There are a lot of books! Time goes quickly here, the man that was in the store was also very nice and helpful. Beautiful old books.
