If you like history and castles you will love this one. Interesting and quite big. Set in a picturesque town with nice cafés and shopping. As the car park is at the castle it is definitely worth a day out. 6.50 for parking all day which is fair.

Not much of Helmsley castle left, just the ruins but the walled garden adjacent is a nice little place to visit , as is Helmsley itself , great little shops and pubs and cafes. Pay and display parking only and it gets very busy . Helmsley is a delight and a hidden gem .

Lots to see both inside and out, lovely walking round the grounds & a very nice shop & information area. Helmsley village itself is also lovely with excellent shops & eating places.
